A watch waterproof to 5 ATM, usable in swimming pool (or in the shower).

The round version, the first to be marketed, comes with a nice leather strap. However, the width of a 20mm band might have been 22mm, as it looks a bit disproportionate to the case. There is also no silicone bracelet offered better suited to sports and especially swimming. But, it is possible to buy others to personalize it according to your style or your activities.

It is a screen of good size to visualize data and the passage from one screen to another is done with a satisfactory fluidity.

The display has rich, deep blacks that you would expect from a high-quality AMOLED display. It offers good brightness as well as important viewing angles.

Zepp E health, activity and smartphone features on the wrist

Zepp E uses its proprietary OS, it records your daily exercise and gives you an overview of any changes in your physical condition. In addition, the AI ​​analyzes your physiological parameters in real time. The app is therefore able to pick up any early warning sign and provide professional advice, allowing you to better understand your general health.

Zepp app replaces the Amazfit app

Since August 25, 2023, the “Amazfit” application is officially renamed “Zepp” by Huami, with a new icon.

Both Zepp E models must be paired with your compatible smartphone running Android 5+ or iOS 10+. To retrieve the application, simply scan the QR code present with the camera of your mobile. Alas, it didn’t work with my Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro. I therefore advise you to go directly to the right store:

Smartphone functions on the wrist

Compare the features of the Zepp E to those of similarly priced smartwatches and you will find that they don’t quite match up. You won’t find any contactless payments, apps, or built-in music player here. On the other hand, it offers notifications, weather updates and a controller for the music played on your phone.

These features are very similar in their execution to what we have experienced on the latest Amazfit watches.

If your smartphone is paired with your watch and within 10 meters maximum covered by Bluetooth, you receive your information on the wrist:

Zepp records data relating to your physical condition such as:

Your PAI score

All this, by providing you with professional interpretations of this data. So you get your PAI which is an indicator of personal physiological activity. It is based on heart rate data, intensity of daily activity, and multidimensional and comprehensive dynamic assessment of personal physiological data, it is converted into a simple value using an algorithm to help you understand your general condition.

According to the results of the HUNT Fitness * study, keeping your IAP above 100 helps reduce the risk of death from cardiovascular disease and increases life expectancy. And good news, unlike the Fitbit Sense, you don’t need a premium subscription to fully enjoy it.

Heart rate monitoring and alert

Heart rate is an important health indicator. More frequent heart rate measurement allows you to detect more changes in heart rate and helps you create a healthy lifestyle.

So you can turn on the heart rate alert function when you set the detection interval to be less than 10 minutes. The watch vibrates when the measured heart rate is higher than the set value and that no activity has been detected on your part in the last 10 minutes.

Tacking activity and 11 sports

Zepp E is also able to record your data while you exercise, and will display it in real time, including details of your walk or run.

The watch offers 11 training modes: Outdoor running, walking, outdoor cycling, treadmill, indoor cycling, pool swimming, elliptical trainer, climbing, track running, skiing and free training.

After waking up the watch, press the side button on the face of the watch to access the apps list and press workout. Touch the desired workout mode and touch GO on the workout preparation screen to start recording your workout data.

Daily goal

Like on Apple Watch or Google Fit, you can create your daily activity goals. The watch automatically records your activity data, including steps, calorie consumption, standing, and distance to run or walk. It calculates your fat burning minutes based on heart rate flow data.

• The daily activity goal consists of three bands: the activity band (you can select Steps or Calories as the target), fat-burning band, and stand-up band.
• To motivate you, the watch vibrates when you finish a strip.

Sleep analysis, score and advice

The quality of sleep is closely linked to health. When you wear the watch while you sleep, it automatically records your sleep quality. You can synchronize the recordings with the application to view:

• how long you sleep,
• the stages of your sleep
• Your sleep score,
• as well as receiving suggestions for improving sleep.

Keep the watch smart health connected to the phone. Open the Zepp app, choose Profile> My device> Zepp E
> Health monitoring, and activate the sleep assistant. This allows you to obtain
information about the quality of your sleep (during the REM sleep phase).

Good battery life of 7 days in normal use

Autonomy officially clearly above watches under Wear Os, varying from 7 to 15 days. This is mainly due to the lack of a very resource-intensive integrated GPS. This typical measurement is based on the use of continuous heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring, measuring blood oxygen levels twice a day, receiving 150 notifications, activating screen 30 times a day and walk 3 days a week for 30 minutes.

When you get to 0% battery, it takes about 2 hours to fully charge it. The small charging cable, attached magnetically to the back, is thankfully secure in case you are worried about waking up with an uncharged battery.

Zepp E price, date and competitors

Surprising, because traditionally Amazfit products have a very aggressive price. Here both versions are available at € 249, i.e. the price of the French watch Withings ScanWatch which benefits from the Medical CE for its sensors.

The round version is available now on Amazon’s Zepp store, the square model should quickly be marketed in France.
