What you will learn
Unboxing of Yes Duo Plus
The adapter box is made of rigid cardboard. On the front part of the box is indicated the name of the product as well as its main function: here Bluetooth dual SIM adapter. The details of the functionalities are written both in small print on this same part as well as on the back of the packaging.. With the Yes Duo Plus, you can receive and make calls, send SMS, locate your smartphone and even take selfies.
Note that Micro and Nano SIM cards are compatible. The French of Oui Smart announce an autonomy approaching 150 hours.
The front part of the box is not attached to the packaging, it is detached on the right side, which allows it to be turned like the pages of a book. Once filmed, we discover a visual description more precise, to easily understand the strengths of the product.
To take the adapter out of its box, open the notch at the top of the box and pull the cardboard from the inside out to access the product and its accessories.
Among the accessories present inside the box, there are: user manual written in French and English, then a USB cable acting as a Micro SIM adapter. Convenient to connect it to your computer. The cable is located in a resealable bag, other components are supplied as a map extraction tool and a insert holder for Nano card.
Yes Plus design and ergonomics
The adapter has a rather original and interesting design. It is a small box which the name is written on the lower part. The front of the device is rather simple, only a recess and a vibrator appear. In the recess is a diode that blinks in different colors for the Bluetooth device. Two very important buttons are located on the upper edge of the adapter: the first for take photos or selfies and the second to pair and turn on the Yes Duo Plus.
At the rear of the case pictograms indicate USB output, the slot to insert the SIM card, as well as the two icons for the buttons in the upper section already mentioned.
Due to its size and lightness, the Yes Duo Plus is easy to transport. This is very useful for people who often travel on business, the first recipients of this product. Travelers will be delighted, all they need is a single Micro USB cable. The SIM adapter can also be used for them, if they use Nano SIM chips: the new storage card format for contacts. Cards in Micro format are also taken into account.
Using the Yes Duo Plus
The Yes Duo Plus is easy to install. As a matter of fact, no connection is necessary. Just re-enter your SIM card into the device before starting it: either by microphone directly in the dedicated slot, or with an adapter designed for cards in Nano format.
The Yes Duo Plus is used through a free mobile application downloadable from the Apple Store. It is called "Duo Plus". It is multifunctional and can be used to make calls, change ringtones, send messages and save photos.
To operate the Bluetooth adapter, it must be paired on the phone with the connection mentioned above. Before any procedure, you must accept the different phases of interaction with the operating system. In particular, you will need to configure Bluetooth.
Contrary to what we might think, Bluetooth pairing is not done through the phone settings, but through those of the application. It almost automatically detects the Yes Duo Plus. To pair it, a password is required. It is indicated in the user guide. We therefore advise you to read it before handling.
However, it should be noted that the application is by default in English. However, the user can change it as desired through the settings.
Several elements are managed from the application, mainly those described above. The images that follow could not be more explicit.
You can make privacy settings. For example, you block phone numbers that you suspect are suspicious.
In the settings, you access more options, like creating an alert if your device or even your phone is lost.
The app finds your contacts very easily, once the user gives them permission (after pairing and logging in).
Yes Duo Plus against the competition
In the world of smart health connected objects and more particularly in that of SIM adapters for iOS, the competition is fierce. Between the GoldBox, BlueClip, GoodTalk, X-Twin 5S adapters or even the SocBlue 2, which shines with its originality?
Among the competitors, Simore BlueClip offers more features. When the SocBlue 2 transform your portable music player into a phone, the Simore BlueClip can transform your portable music player, tablet and Apple Watch into a smartphone at the same time. With the help of its clip, it can be attached to clothes and all seams. This allows you to move around with him all the time.
The SocBlue 2 has the same functionality as its competitors. However to use it the user must activate Bluetooth 4.0. Even if it claims to be compatible with any support for the Apple ecosystem, it is not supported on older models of the brand like the second generation iPod Touch.
Unlike the Yes Duo Plus, it is not configured in French, it would be ideal for followers of the Shakespeare language. It works with the help of a remote control for all iPhone from 4S and for all iPad from third model.
The GoldBox turns out to be one of the lightest adapters, only 26 grams on the scale. The product is 4 millimeters thick, so it can also be carried in the user's pocket. It can remain in standby for up to 100 hours, which makes it a product with respectable autonomy.
However, some data are not available. It is therefore not possible to receive MMS with this model, or use the data. Unlike the other models presented, the user can choose with which card to send messages, for example.
Conclusion
Good points
- Respectable autonomy (about 150 hours in standby mode)
- Quick pairing between application and adapter
- Quick and efficient application
- Full configuration
Negative points
- Only detects the Sim card in the adapter and not the phone card.
- The application does not allow messages to be received on both cards simultaneously
- Not Apple Watch compatible
- Application only on the App Store
(Review) Yes Duo Plus: the wireless multi-Sim adapter
Reviewed by Matthieu Zouzac
we
Design and finishes: The adapter has a sober and refined design, its color highlights it. Its weight allows it to be taken everywhere.
Application : It is easy to use and the display helps the user through the different sections. Settings must be changed like the default language. We would have liked the application to be able to detect the card integrated in the phone and not only the one present in the adapter.
Features: The product features are very interesting, such as the management and sending of messages and calls. However, it lacks essential options for the user, yet present among competitors, such as being able to choose the SIM card to use.
Use / handling: The handling of the application is rather intuitive. Note that everything goes through it. However, procedures must be performed before using the Yes Duo Plus such as installing the card and connecting to be paired.
Value for money: Offered at this price, the device loses profitability if we compare the functionality of the product against its price. Indeed, for the same price, you can get the GoldBox from Simore which offers more content, including simultaneous reception, already mentioned.
