Xiaomi Smarthome: Smart health home is also about comfort and convenience, we use a robotic vacuum cleaner for this purpose (Part 4)

[ad_1]

The intelligent health home Review from Xiaomi has gained momentum that more dust has begun to swirl at health home. We can't let that happen, so we called a robotic vacuum cleaner to help keep our household clean and dust-free – we don't want to vacuum every day, yes.

Who's talking about? About the basics of a robotic vacuum cleaner – Xiaowa (XiaomiRobotic Vacuum Cleaner. We've built this vacuum cleaner into our smart health home to see how to handle a 200-euro model. What do you think is doing a good job? If you answered yes, you're right. It is not a thousand euro machine, but is ideal for vacuuming a small / medium health home or office. This model has a classic circular shape, the primary rotating brush in the center of the device (bottom part) and the auxiliary rotary brush at the bottom right. Thanks to the auxiliary rotary brush, it can also collect dirt from the edge of walls, furniture, etc. It does not reach the corners, but does not leave many "deaf places". Of course, it depends mainly on the segmentation of the household, the layout of furniture and so on. The main brush with auxiliary silicone blades has a width of 165 mm. If you do not have extra dirt in your health home, you often don't have to “touch” it. Just clean it once a week, remove the twisted hair, laces and the like. and go back to the place. Pulling out is easy – it has classic latches.

"In the previous episodes of the series, Xiaomi Smarthome, you could read about how and what products we use to illuminate the health home, how and what products we use to secure the health home in the very first part, we summarized all the devices we included in the Review. ”

In addition to the brushes, there are also two main movable bodies at the bottom – motorized wheels with rubber sheath, which get the vacuum cleaner through more than 2 cm obstacle. During the Review, we only got stuck once, and it climbed on the toy – probably wanted to eat it J. Closer to the front is an auxiliary swivel wheel, two metal plates to transfer power from the charger and four infrared sensors. They are used to detect obstacles in real time. A large bumper is added to the sensors to form half of the front of the vacuum cleaner. It incorporates additional sensors and protrudes at the top, the so-called radar – a dual gyro inertial navigation system in combination with dual optical motion tracking.

This is a theory, but what is the practice? Decent, although the vacuum cleaner does not create any map of the health home and does not record the route to the application as more expensive models, but navigation works well. The first time you run the health home, under vacuuming) and then walk along memorized routes. Of course, if a spot on the floor becomes free, it will pass, replenish and suck. Simple but functional system. We especially like the fact that it does not bump into furniture and other obstacles. However, if there is contact, it is really gentle.

The navigation section rating is more than good! This vacuum cleaner has been in the health home for several weeks and has never caused any problems. Navigation is precise, avoids obstacles excellently and returns to the charger with ease. Yes, there is also a docking station in the box, which you should place in a convenient place, ideal for the wall. The vacuum cleaner will return here after vacuuming or when the battery capacity is low. The integrated battery has a capacity of 2600mAh and lasts approximately 60 minutes in full power mode on a single charge. If the vacuum cleaner is working and the battery capacity drops well below 30%, it will automatically return to the charger and start the charging process. The household in which this vacuum cleaner operates is approximately 60 m2. After subtracting furniture surfaces, etc. it is considerably less, but it can calmly and accurately vacuum this area on a single charge, leaving some 25% of the battery capacity. Note that this is different from the desktop and the power set. Charging from 10 to 100% takes an average of 115 minutes.

We'll go back to the top for a moment, where, in addition to the radar, there are three physical buttons – return to the charging station, start vacuuming, and vacuuming in place (circling – 1m). You can find the rest of the settings and features in the app we'll talk about below. There is also a waste container cover at the top – it simply lifts (has hinges), pull out the container, open it and empty the dirt. Its capacity is 640 ml, so it is enough to last for a few days without your attention – it depends on contamination. Particulate filter is also integrated in the tank – the system or the system will recommend its replacement / cleaning. application. The filter is not specified, so we believe it is effective enough. So far we have not noticed anything undesirable J. It is good to know that the filter can knock or blow, but not wash with water, it is forbidden! The recommended filter change cycle is 2 weeks or 150 hours of vacuuming – new sequins set (2 pieces) costs 9 EUR, which is an affordable price.

Now essential – performance! This model has an output of – 50W / a specified suction power of –1600 Pa. The lower buoyancy suction ensures a consistent suction of dirt, while not consuming much energy, which makes the battery life longer. From the practical point of view, this performance is fine – the household cleans precisely, but it is still necessary to take into account that sometimes it is necessary to take a classic vacuum cleaner and vacuum everything thoroughly. The robotic vacuum cleaner keeps clean, does not ensure perfect cleaning. The power can be regulated in 4 stages.

Control and set up the vacuum cleaner using Mi-health home

Since the vacuum cleaner itself has only basic controls, an application is also needed where you can find the remainder that is very important. The application will automatically find the vacuum cleaner when you turn it on, so you only need to add and use it. Click the vacuum cleaner icon to start vacuuming or send a charger return command. Wi-Fi control response is acceptable. To get to advanced settings, you need to click on "more operations". Immediately you get to the health home screen of this assistant, where you can see the charge status, whether it is vacuuming or charging, how much time and charge it is, and also adjusting the vacuum cleaner power!

There are 4 modes – Silent (silent / night mode), Standard, Strong, and MAX. Highest performance means the lowest battery life, about 60 minutes. After clicking the advanced settings (3 dots top right) to access the timer settings, vacuum schedule, and remote control. You can also find the time zone, volume, or DND mode (do not disturb) if the vacuum cleaner does not make any noise. Ideal when night vacuuming is set to silent (Silent) and you do not want the vacuum cleaner to announce that it has started / stopped vacuuming. You can also set how many minutes the vacuum cleaner should work: min. 10 / max 60 minutes.

In addition to common features and settings, it is also available carpet mode – The vacuum cleaner automatically detects a rug with a long pile and immediately switches to maximum power to vacuum as much dirt out of the rug. When the carpet leaves, it automatically switches to normal, respectively. originally set power. We do not have long-haired carpets, but it can work. If there is a possibility, we will try and complete it.

Of course there is the possibility of setting regular cleaning on a given day and times. You can set recurrence, start time, and performance mode. E.g. maximum power on weekends in the morning and standard power every week in the morning. In the settings you can also see when and how much the vacuum cleaner worked, whether it finished cleaning itself or by the user's command. Occasionally such information is useful. The practical complement is information, respectively. recommendations for cleaning or replacing individual consumables – this section shows all essential parts and the percentage of their "life" after which they need to be replaced or cleaned. Subsequently, it is sufficient to confirm the replacement / cleaning and the counting starts again. Useful feature.

The application also offers the possibility of "manual" operation of the vacuum cleaner. So you can direct it where you need it (eg spilled flour in the kitchen) and send it back to the charger. Control is possible in two ways – buttons or imitation joystick. The disadvantage is only a longer response – it is trouble-free from the point of view of common actions, but it is not ideal from the point of view of direct control. However, it should be acknowledged that for a relatively low price you will get an excellent helper who will take care of regular cleaning of your health home. The package includes a vacuum cleaner, charging station, power cord, brush and necessary parts.

Finally, a little automation that we love very much. We plugged the vacuum cleaner into the smarthome system to make things easier and trigger multiple actions at the same time. Most often, we use the vacuum cleaner in conjunction with the wireless MI button that we have in the hallway. When we leave the house, we double-click it, turning off all the lights and starting the vacuum cleaner. This can be even more automated so that when your absence is detected, the system starts vacuuming. Great, what do you say? And remember, your vacuum cleaner is also supervised outside the house, resp. away from health home Wi-Fi!

What device do we control our smart health home?

We still have the same vision – we'll use different devices, including iOS devices, but the main thing – Xiaomi Redmi 6. It is a relatively new mid-range model with a 6.26 ”HD + display with a DOT drop cut-out (teardrop), with up to 86.43% of the front part being the display itself. Miss a decent camera – 12 MP main sensor + 2 MP secondary sensor. However, we are most interested in the performance and stability of the system, as this phone will serve as the control unit and controller of the entire intelligent health home.

The smooth running is to take care of Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor, which is seconded to 3 GB of RAM. The internal memory has a capacity of 32 GB and is expandable with a microSD memory card up to a maximum capacity of 512 GB. There is also a biometric security device, which is in charge of the fingerprint sensor in the back and present is a basic face unlocking, which is controlled by the AI algorithm. Redmi 7 also has P2i certification (splash water resistance) .We will also need a long battery life per charge, which should be ensured by an integrated battery with a capacity of 4000 mAh.
