The Xiaomi Mi Band 1S is now official and will be well equipped with a heart rate monitoring. The new generation of smart health bracelet from Chinese society should obviously remain the most affordable on the market.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 1S will therefore have an integrated optical heart rate sensor for the same price. The society will offer it at a price of 99 Yuan or about 15 euros, from November 11. The old version of the smart health connected bracelet will see its price lowered to 69 Yuan. These data relate to China. The brand hasn't said anything to the rest of the world yet. The 1S has not changed much in terms of design: the small module has the same shape and still fits the same way in the center of the bracelet. However, it will be a little thicker because of the heart rate sensor. The original measures 36 x 14 x 9 mm while the new measures 37 x 13.6 x 9.9 mm. It also weighs half a gram more, or 13.5 grams.
The new Chinese smart health bracelet will therefore make it possible to follow a user's heart rate, in real time, using the perception of photoelectric light. It also offers activity tracking such as step counting and sleep monitoring. The 45mAh battery is the same and has a lifespan of 30 days; but it should last a few days less because of the new heart rate monitoring features.
The Mi Band 1S is IP67 certified (for dust and water) and provides users with phone unlocking functionality as well as incoming call alerts via vibration and LEDs. Even though Xiaomi's first bracelet was not perfect, far from it, it still sold more than 6 million units worldwide. With a price and a similar design, but also a new functionality, it's a safe bet that this new opus will do as well if not better.
