WowCube takes the game to a whole new level

WowCube is a bit of a cross between a portable game console and a Rubik’s Cube. Designed by CubiOs Inc, this smart health smart health connected object has just been awarded the CES 2021 innovation awards.

WowCube was invented by a father and his son; Savva and Ilya Osipov. This cube-shaped device has four color IPS displays on each side (for a total of 24) as well as eight microprocessors and an accelerometer hidden inside. As with the Rubik’s Cube, the user can rotate it on multiple axes, which constantly changes the alignment of the screens.

But unlike the Rubik’s Cube, there’s a lot more you can do with it than just trying to make each side one color. With the accompanying iOS / Android app, users can load different games into the device via Bluetooth. This makes it possible to modify the animated display on the screens.

Games are played by turning and shaking the device. There is no need to tap on the screen or press a button.

WowCube gives another dimension to game 1

A number of games have already been developed for the system. Including word games, puzzles, mazes and arcade-type games. It does, however, have an open API (application programming interface) for third-party developers who want to create their own games. It can also be used for applications not related to games; displaying information such as time, date and weather.

The device itself measures 70mm by 70mm on each side and tips the scales at 335 grams. One charge from its built-in 4320 mAh lithium-ion battery is said to last up to eight hours of use.

Pricing and availability will be announced next month, when the WowCube debuts at CES. You can see the device in action, in the following video.
