The Parisian start-up Imageens, specializing in AI applied to medical imaging, announced on Thursday a fundraising of 1.2 million euros. The roundtable was led by the Anaxago fund, with participation from Badge, a network of business angels, Coalescence, and PBA.

Harnessing health data
Created in 2017, this young startup based in Paris, a spin-off of AP-HP and Sorbonne University, has developed two software solutions – ArtFun + and Label – whose objective is to allow healthcare professionals to fully exploit data. medical imaging. The new funds will be allocated to their marketing. New recruitments are also planned.

ArtFun + is software dedicated to radiology specialists in cardiology. It allows to calculate the biomarkers of vascular stiffness from a medical image to know the risk of serious cardiovascular event up to 8.5 years in advance.

A marker of cardiovascular risk, vascular rigidity is a common process in aging, but it can be accelerated by certain pathologies such as obesity.

Prevent cardiovascular pathologies
The aim of ArtFun + is to improve monitoring and preventive therapeutic decisions for cardiovascular pathologies, the leading cause of death in the world according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

This software comes from the MESA (Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis) study, funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) in the United States, which studied the prognostic power of imaging biomarkers on a cohort of 3675 patients. across the United States.

A request for authorization to United States and in Europe
Imageens is in the process of filing an application for marketing authorization with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the American agency in charge of regulating foodstuffs, drugs and medical devices, and at the level of ‘European Union.

The second device developed by this young shoot is called “Label”. It is a pipeline of medical imaging data processing and a set of image classification algorithms. It allows large medical data warehouses to manage their data and easily create cohorts for their medical AI R&D and development projects.

In partnership with AP-HP
Label is currently being tested by the Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) hospital group as part of a partnership signed last February. Through this experiment, Imageens wants to validate the effectiveness of its tool with a view to future marketing.
