The Pulse and my 10,000 steps a day

[ad_1]

The day I was offered a Pulse, it took me a while to figure out what it was all about. A white box, and a tiny black square inside. No button, no display … a real mystery.

But very quickly, everything is ultimately quite intuitive. I finally spot a single small button on the top of the device, and the blue display appears, very pretty, very soft and welcoming. I don't know yet, but this little device will change my everyday life a little.

Thanks to the pretty and well-made Withings app, I am now every day my activity, and every night the quality of my sleep.

The goal of 10,000 steps a day is not so easy to achieve. But the challenge is interesting, and I now take on the task of going to work on foot rather than on a scooter, just to show my Pulse that I am not a feignasse.

Being also a regular user of the Runkeeper application, for running, walking and cycling, I am delighted to note that the Withings application also takes into account my recorded activities. I proudly note that on certain days, I am able to accomplish more than 200% of my recommended daily activity, and I am very happy.

I always have my Pulse in my pocket, it became automatic in the morning: my watch, my keys, my phone, my Pulse.

There, for example, at the time of writing, I have taken 2,807 steps since this morning. My heart rate is 75 bpm ("Normal heart rate at rest," my app tells me).

In terms of technical characteristics, the autonomy is quite impressive. Logical, you might say, since the screen only lights up on demand and has very little light. But all the same, I didn't have to make my first recharge until after a good week. And on this side too, everything is very simple: just connect the Pulse to the computer using the small USB cable provided, and recharging is rather quick.

Size of Withings Pulse
The Pulse is really small.

In a month, I'm going to participate in the Oxfam Trailwalker, a long walk of 100 kilometers, to be covered in less than 30 hours. With my three teammates, we are in the midst of a fundraising operation to manage to collect the € 1,500 in donations which will be donated to OXFAM France to finance concrete actions in developing countries: humanitarian actions, environmental protection, etc.

To support us in this project, come see our team page.

In addition to the challenge that this sporting challenge represents in itself, I can't wait to see with my own eyes if the Pulse really takes into account all the steps, even beyond 99,999 …
