The objects by designer Kiki Goti combine rigid and malleable materials. Embellished with colors, very joyful patterns and playful shapes, his creations are real intriguing and multisensory sculptures. The very rhythmic collection includes vases, lamps, mirrors and side tables, all imbued with a great modernity.
Technology at the service of the senses
Greek designer Kiki Goti makes this collection of curiosities from foam and acrylic. She always seeks contrast in the materials used.
Everything stimulates our senses in his creations. Color plays a big role in the final appearance of the objects offered by Kiki Goti. She does not skimp on the patterns and colors to create a surprise effect for anyone who looks at them. Thus, the geometric patterns are distorted by the way the foam has been worked.
The very rigid acrylic parts seem to enclose the foam which deforms on contact.
The touch is also titillated because visually, it is difficult to understand whether these objects are rigid or soft. This is due to their composition of materials. The sharpness of the plastic of the acrylic contrasts with the softness of the pressed and deformed foam.
The result is a very intriguing combination of hardness and malleability that appeals to the touch.
The designer’s approach
With this collection of objects for the home, the designer wants to play with our senses.
In his interview for Design Milk, Kiki Goti explains: “I wanted to develop a series of very tangible sensory objects. During the pandemic, I felt like there wasn’t enough sensory stimulation at home. Living in New York, I was used to a constant influx of information, and when I had to stay home, my surroundings felt very bare and barren. This is how I came up with the idea of “visually tangible” objects. I wanted to create a hyper-sensory domestic state through an intense use of color, pattern and texture.”
His creations call as much for contemplation as for use. They are located on the border between sculpture and functional object. Kiki Goti sees them as an exuberant version of domestic life. The mirror inevitably brightens up your daily life, the lamp becomes a central element in your room and the side table leaves no one indifferent. As for vases, they sit in the center of your table to completely brighten up a space.
We really like the intriguing and very pop universe of Kiki Goti. His approach of restoring joy to our interiors by playing on our perceptions and our senses is the opposite of minimalism! Objects become individual characters with a story to tell, in an explosion of color.
