the longest autonomous flight in history!

“HE MADE IT!” Solar Impulse 2 did it: the longest autonomous flight in aviation history. A small flight for humans (for now) and above all a big step towards a "clean future", advocated by Solar Impulse.

We have come a long way since 1903 and the first flight with a motorized plane, initiated by the Wright brothers! Despite some delays due to bad weather conditions, Solar Impulse has successfully completed part of its large flight project around the world and posts on its Twitter:

The plane took off from Nagoya in Japan, to reach Hawaii by landing in the Pacific Ocean, in exactly: 4 days, 21 hours and 52 minutes. A performance to remember since it represents the longest autonomous flight in aviation history ! Clean ! As'solar energy used to keep the craft in the air and move it forward The flight plan is best adapted, with a lower altitude at night, to allow the aircraft to recharge its batteries and save them. Next step for Solar Impulse 2: to go back from Hawaii to Poenix. Then cross the United States, the Atlantic, make a short stop in Europe and complete the circle by returning to where he started his journey, in Abu Dhabi.
