the first smartphone with optical gimbal stabilization

The Chinese manufacturer Vivo has just unveiled its new range of X50 smartphones. The series is available in three models, the Vivo X50, X50 Pro and X50 Pro Plus. The flagship of these devices is the new camera with a gimbal image stabilizer. This self-stabilizing system is a first in a smartphone, and not only compensates for vibrations and movement side, but also rotations around the axis of the camera.

The X50 Pro Plus integrates a quadruple photo module with the new sensor 50 megapixel Isocell GN1 1 / 1.3 inch Samsung which benefits from the gimbal image stabilizer. It is accompanied by a 13-megapixel telephoto lens, an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens and a 13-megapixel sensor for portrait mode. The X50 Pro's camera is identical except for the main 48-megapixel lens. The Vivo X50 takes the photo module of the X50 Pro, but without the gimbal stabilization and the telephoto lens which is replaced by a 5 megapixel macro sensor.

An international outing

The three devices incorporate a 6.56 inch Amoled Full HD + screen (2.376 x 1.080 pixels), 8 gigabytes of RAM and 128 or 256 gigabytes of storage. As for the high-end model, the Vivo X50 Pro Plus benefits from a screen with curved edges with refresh rate of 120 Hz and SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. The Vivo X50 Pro is a rather mid-range model, with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, and a processor Snapdragon 765G. Finally, the Vivo X50 displays characteristics similar to the X50 Pro but this time with a flat screen.

For now, these smartphones are only offered on the Chinese market, where prices start from 3,498 yuan (439 euros at current prices). Vivo has however announced that they will be offered on the international market, without mentioning a possible date.
