Thanks to Bodyscan, the Amazon Halo bracelet even recognizes feelings

Heart rate measurement, pedometer and sleep analysis have long been part of the equipment of all fitness trackers and can even be found in very inexpensive China models from 30 euros.

However, Amazon’s Tracker goes far beyond that. Although it has no display and therefore looks very simple, Halo can analyze the voice of its wearer via an integrated microphone and draw conclusions about their emotions.

In addition, Halo users should be able to take a full-body photo with the accompanying app and thus perform a body fat analysis. Amazon even claims that it is as precise as a doctor’s. So far, however, there is no scientific evidence for this.

In addition, the Halo app should help to learn healthy habits and display all measurement data clearly. The app thus serves as a replacement for the non-existent display and has the advantage that it does not additionally use the tracker’s battery.

In order to be able to achieve an optimal analysis of the body fat values, bulky items of clothing must not be in the way. Therefore, when taking a full-body photo, you should wear tight-fitting clothing or even better underwear.

This should deter some Halo users, especially since the photos are uploaded to a cloud for analysis at least for a short time. Amazon promises the subsequent deletion, but data protection professionals are already critical of the upload of such sensitive data.

In addition: Halo also uses sensors to measure sleep quality, activities and body temperature, and uses voice analysis to assess the user’s emotions. All together, therefore, results in a very comprehensive profile.

Amazon Halo is not yet available for sale, so we have not yet received any reviews for this tracker. (As of: 08/2023)

So far, Halo is only in American Amazon Store and can only be ordered there by invitation. The introductory price is currently 64.99 US dollars (approx. 54.60 euros). Later it will cost US $ 99.00.

According to media reports, there are also costs of US $ 3.99 per month to use the analysis functions via the cloud. We therefore assume that German users will later have to pay 3 to 4 euros subscription fees for Halo.

The Amazon fitness tracker is available in sizes S, M or L as well as in the color variants Black and Onyx, Blush and Rose Gold or Winter and Silver.

Cheap alternative: Much cheaper than the Halo Band is the waterproof Mi Band 5, which is available from 40 euros and tracks eleven different sports. In addition, it masters cycle tracking, sleep analysis and enables guided breathing exercises.
