The essence of a whiteboard is to give up papers and pens to optimize sharing. The Smart Technologies Kapp IQ digital whiteboard does not go much further, with one major exception: anyone can write on it, without having to get up from their chair. Even hundreds of kilometers away.

Smart Kapp IQ design and ergonomics
Difficult to determine if the Smart Kapp IQ is simple or not. On the one hand, it has few buttons and is relatively easy to understand. On the other hand, the numerous elements present alongside the table suggest that its installation will not be easy: it will indeed be necessary to unscrew a small hatch present at the back of the screen to install the server serveri, and make various connections so that you can use it for the first time. In addition, have several friends on hand: the device weighs close to 50 kilos and it's quite large. Moving it is a real ordeal, especially on the stairs (our backs remember it). Better be prepared and have a place or facility designed to accommodate and support it.
Fortunately, the Smart Kapp IQ is available in several sizes : 55 inches, 65 inches and 75 inches. Its screen resolution is 3840 x 2160, or 1920 x 1080 in whiteboard mode. The design is identical to the three: once installed and configured (we will come back to this later), the interactive whiteboard only has a few buttons: Ignition / standby »And three buttons for sound management (mute, weaker, louder).
Once lit, after a short calibration session, the surface of the table remains sober. A simple QR Code at the bottom left will allow you to pair your phone, and the three icons at the bottom right will be used to connect, take screenshots and manage the connection Bluetooth of the device.
Connectivity level, the Smart Kapp IQ has two ports USB 2.0 (type A and type B), an HDMI 1.4 input to link it to a computer, an RS-232 input and a 3.5 mm stereo output.
Smart Kapp app
smart health smart health connected object requires, using the Smart Kapp IQ requires a application dedicated, compatible iOS and Android. For starters, this will be the famous pairing step, which can be quite strenuous. Here, there is a Bluetooth scan point but a synchronization which involves identifying a QR Code at the bottom left of the table. The first thing the app will ask you for is to to scan in order to connect to it … in theory. Indeed, this is where things start to get tough: sometimes the table is detectable by the phone, sometimes it is not, and you have to systematically do it several times before you succeed in getting there connect.
After this milestone, in any case, things get easier. The app is pretty simple, like the Smart Kapp itself. The main screen shows only a copy of the table, synchronized live with what the user of the Smart Kapp will write. On the bottom, several buttons will allow you to share the session with dother users (by sending them an access code by sms for example), to take screenshots or to access a kind of history of the current session.

Installation
Start by unpacking all accessories Smart Kapp IQ and take a deep breath: your journey is just beginning. Quickly, by following the instructions for use and your intuition, you will install the server supplied inside the interactive screen, via a hatch provided for this purpose. Be careful not to lose any paper or instructions for installing the Smart Kapp IQ. Where most competitors present a sometimes more detailed manual online, you will not find not much on the Smart Kapp site (which would also benefit from a small revision).
Once the board is prepared and smart health connected, it will light up automatically. When it is first used, it asks you to calibrate it by touching certain zones, first defined by dots, then by several boxes. Only then can you scan the QR Code using the dedicated app and, if you're lucky, pair it.
Writing with the Smart Kapp IQ
Teachers who use a smart board designed for education, it already exists. Some of them have already planned to enroll in instructional hours to learn how to use it. The society Smart Tech then realized that if users were unable to use it in five minutes, they would end up giving up. From then on, the goal became simple: the Smart Kapp IQ had to be the most simple and accessible possible.
In fact, once turned on and paired, the Smart Kapp IQ is not not so difficult of use than that. For the main user, just enter one of the two digital markers provided (one red and one black) to write or draw the graphics of your choice on the interactive whiteboard. You made a mistake ? No problem, the markers have rubber at the end, but you can also erase certain lines with your finger or, if the error is significant, go there with the palm of your hand or even your entire forearm.
A table for all
Each modification will be made in real time on the application, and vice versa: if a person with a phone smart health connected to the board in question, he will be able to follow, even remotely, the content of the Smart Kapp IQ and add his own comments on the board shared by all.
This brings us to another element: connection sharing. This is done in a theoretically simple way, even if in fact we struggled a lot before getting there. The main user can simply generate a random code at the press of a button to invite other users to their session. These codes can be sent by sms, for example, and open through major mobile web browsers.
The Smart Kapp IQ can manage up to 250 simultaneous users. We do not guarantee that with so many participants the use will be very fluid or the table readable, but it is simply good to know what the limits of this device are.
In addition, each user can also save a preview of the board for his work or future use. Otherwise, if you really want to be the king of the office, the editorial team presents the Gaze Desk, a new generation office.
Conclusion
Good points
- Possibility for each user to modify the table from their phone
- Up to 250 users managed simultaneously
- Easy to use application
Negative points
- Connection difficulty
- Sharing the assignment not necessarily obvious
- The marker that changes color randomly

Design and ergonomics: Despite its apparent simplicity, the Smart Kapp IQ is incredibly complicated to install and set up. Fortunately, once installed, interactions with the device are pretty straightforward.
Features: In a world where work is becoming more and more digital, Smart Kapp offers really effective features: have all participants write, wherever they are.
Application: One of the strong points of this smart health smart health connected object. The dedicated application remains relatively easy to use, despite some flaws.
Use / handling: Even if it is quite laborious to install and connect the Smart Kapp IQ, its use as a table is quite intuitive. Just draw and use your hand like an eraser, whether on the board or the app.
Value for money: You will have to pay around 5,000 € to get a Smart Kapp IQ, depending on the size you want. Knowing that 50 € is enough to buy a standard whiteboard, this represents a (very) big difference in price. A difference which, in our opinion, is not justified.
