It has not been available for a long time, not even in Germany: the Moto 360 – and thus the first Android Wear smartwatch with a round display. And it is precisely this optical and technical highlight that is causing problems: First buyers complain about burned-in images in the advertisement.
The problem existed ages ago with tube monitors – and it was the reason for the invention of the Screensavers. Early TFT monitors also had to struggle with this. In the case of smartphones, the aging of the organic components of OLED displays is the most likely reason to worry, but LCDs are relatively easy to use on cell phones (and now wearables too)
Motorola's Smartwatch Moto 360, however, seems to be sensitive: first pictures are circulating on the web, in which the watch has left permanently visible traces on the display. The reason for this: as long as the Moto 360 is attached to the charger – in practice probably every night – it shows the time. Obviously better and stronger than buyers would like.
There is still no solution to the problem. After all: Motorola is cooperative. Via Twitter reports the companyto be at it. There is still good news for those affected: In contrast to the signs of aging in OLED displays, such display errors are often reversible on LCDs – so they can possibly be remedied with new software.
