The Stamp start-up has just unveiled a 30-day smart health connected thermometer. An invention that could well revolutionize certain medical procedures, especially for surgical follow-ups, but also for athletes.
The craze around smart health connected objects also affects thermometers. We knew the Clinicloud thermometer, this is that of Stamp. The project was unveiled at SXSW, an emerging technology festival that takes place annually in Austin, Texas. The goal : measure body temperature in real time.
How it works ?
Nothing too complicated, the user sticks a sensor on his body, below her armpit, with the help of a dressing designed for the occasion. Everything is smart health connected by Bluetooth to your smartphone. You can then consult the temperature evolution in real time of your body.
A simple idea
Three of them have developed this thermometer of the future. The idea emerged from an observation: "We are all three parents and, when our children are sick, we all have the bitter experience of having to wake them up in the middle of the night to take their temperatures,"Explains David Whelan, one of the co-founders of the California start-up.
But if you think it’s just a matter of monitoring your toddler’s temperature, think again, the sensor works for everyone. So women wishing to get pregnant may well be tempted by the possibilities of this thermometer explains David Whelan: “Women who want to get pregnant should take their temperature every morning to monitoring their ovulations. However, it is binding and the risk of forgetting is high."
Postoperative and sports use
There are many opportunities for such an innovation. Installing this patch would, for example, allow patients who have had an operation to be remotely monitored by their doctor. The latter could thus receive a notification if fever develops.
Use in sport is also widely conceivable. We know that during the World Cup, the players of the German team were equipped with a similar device to measure their temperature and see the impact on their performance. In addition, the Stamp thermometer could prevent the spread of an epidemic in the locker room.
Availability
The product is said to be ready for sale on the Stamp website, but also on Amazon. Delivery is expected to arrive in the summer. For the moment, a campaign on Indiegogo has been launched and will be completed by the end of April.
As for the medical application, the start-up is struggling to have its product approved by the American medical authorities.
The fact remains that for the moment, the application developed under iOS is available for download and will be available on Apple Watch, which confirms the will of the apple brand to be long-term in the health field.
