Leak: Prices and availability of Samsung Gear S2

Saturn lists the new Samsung Smartwatch Gear S2 including price in its online shop. And when the gadget comes on the market, the tech blog Phonearena wants to know.

For many smartwatch fans, the Gear S2 from Samsung may have been the most interesting wearable at this year's IFA. Samsung seems to have done a very good job, especially when it comes to operation. At least the navigation with the rotating edge around the display was well received by those who could already try out the smartwatch – including us.

So far, Samsung has not published any information about the price and release date of the Gear S2 and the Gear S2 Classic version, which looks more like a real watch. However, the German technology retailer Saturn has already listed the two models and names prices that appear realistic. As a result, the Samsung gadget would not be cheap fun – the Gear S2 costs 379 euros, the Gear S2 Classic 449 euros.

It is not surprising that Saturn does not list the 3G version of the Gear S2: In Germany, the market launch of the smartwatch with an integrated UMTS module is not planned for the time being. While Saturn does not specify a delivery date, the tech blog Phonearena wants to know when the new Samsung smartwatch will be released. According to him, both wearables should come onto the market in October.

Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic have a 1.2-inch display that has a resolution of 360 × 360 pixels. An Exynos chip (3250) is used as the processor. The main memory is 512 MB, the internal memory 4 GB. The gadget's battery has a capacity of 250 mAh. Samsung relies on its Tizen operating system, which was already used in the previous smartwatches.
