The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will be unveiled on June 11, 2023. The brand has just announced it through a teaser posted on its Weibo account, revealing at the same time the first official rendering of the smart health connected bracelet. We take stock of the latest news.

Long awaited as every year, the new generation of smart health connected bracelets from Xiaomi is about to be formalized. The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will be presented on June 11, 2023 in China for a launch a week later, June 18, in the domestic market. The bracelet should arrive in Europe in the process. For the moment, no official details on its price, but it should be around 40 € like its predecessor.

Xiaomi Mi Band 5: what is new?

Xiaomi is not very talkative about the characteristics of its future smart health connected bracelet. The teaser published on Weibo this weekend only reveals that first official rendering of the Mi Band 5. The brand remains faithful to the visual codes of its family of bracelets with the same shape of dial. According to the leaks that have appeared in recent weeks, the screen, which is now full in color since the Mi Band 4, will be much larger with a diagonal of 1.2 inches against 0.95 inches for the current bracelet.

Difficult for the moment to confirm it given the rendering revealed. The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 should also carry an NFC chip which we hope will be available this time in France. The Mi band 4 was indeed offered in two versions: a standard and a second with NFC connectivity for contactless payment. This latest version was only released in China.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 should also improve the tracking functions for more precise measurements: number of steps, distance, calories burned, sleep tracking or even heart rate. According to the Gsmarena website, the smart health connected bracelet would also offer a remote camera control function for a smartphone. It would thus serve as a shooting trigger like the S Pen of the Galaxy Note.

It is also about Amazon Alexa support, but also an option to unlock Windows 10 PCs with the bracelet for those who would like to do without a password. The option is already offered on the Mi Band 3 and 4, but only in Asia. Finally, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 would welcome 5 new exercise modes : yoga, elliptical trainer, indoor bike, rowing mode as well as jump rope.
