The Gymwatch Sensor is soon to be the next darling of gym enthusiasts. It will measure muscle effort and give advice.
The German start-up Gymwatch has been working on its first for 3 years smart health smart health connected object, an activity sensor whose objective is to measure muscular efforts made by athletes. It is a bit like Push Fitness which also succeeded in its IndieGoGo campaign some time ago. The developers of the Gymwatch have just launched their campaign a few days ago on this crowdfunding platform, with a financial goal of $ 85,000. In pre-ordering the activity sensor priced at $ 139 (or € 180), you can therefore save almost 40% compared to the future price of the sensor ($ 205). The first deliveries should take place in july 2014.
The Gymwatch detects the exercise performed
The sensor is attached to a bracelet which can be attached around the arm, on the calf or even the thigh, depending on the efforts made. Without configuration, the Gymwatch Sensor recognizes the exercise directly and sends the different measurements to a Smartphone application (iOS or Android) of the same name. Bluetooth technology provides the link between the two. It accurately distinguishes movements (repetition, etc.), time under tension from eccentric, concentric and static muscle contractions. A bit like Push Fitness, it also serves as a personal sports assistant: it can even give voice instructions to improve muscle work.
