Unboxing / Unpacking the Parrot Pot

The medium-sized rectangular box displays very attractive visuals. On the front, a photo of the pot with flowers. On the right side, a cross section of the pot explains how it works. At the back, we see visuals of the application with explanations. Finally, on the left side, a small summary of the functions of this pot, summarizes its usefulness. The top is also decorated with a photo. The detail is pushed to the explanation, inside the box, of the installation of the pot step by step. A detail that is important since it simply avoids reading the manual, the drawings are so clear.

Under the pot, you can see a User Manual and four batteries packed. Each element remains in its place without representing any difficulty for the exit of the box.

The User Manual of the Parrot Pot is very clear and very complete. However, apart from finding the name of the application, it seems perfectly useless as the installation requires only the drawings on the box and the use is intuitive. That said, like all manuals of the brand this one is pleasant to read. Images, color and numbering make it easy to discard like most other booklets.

Parrot Pot design and finishes

This is surely the only criticism made in this article, but here is a major criticism. The flower pot is, let's face it, really not pleasant to look at. Installed in the living room for a week, we can not honestly say that he swears but it can be said that there is a great lack of work on his design. Admittedly, space was needed to store the water, but beyond choosing such a tall pot – 20.5 cm in diameter and 31.2 cm high – which in this case accommodates a plant smaller than it is strange. In addition, the plastic aspect and the monochrome side do not help, it is not the Parrot Pot that will help your interior decoration.

The installation of the Parrot application

Hard to find. This is what would characterize it since it would have been necessary to change smartphones to have it in the Google Store. A mystery that your editor still does not explain from elsewhere … Once downloaded, however, everything is fine.

Easy to use, it is fully understood without reading the instructions. While looking a lot like the application of Flower Power, it has that little something that makes it more enjoyable. Maybe a touch of sobriety that gives it the class it previously lacked. Otherwise, no big changes, once installed, it requests the creation of an account, then, she locates the pot alone and connects to it. We are then invited to indicate to him the plant which will be pampered by his care. Great moment of doubt when we do not remember the name of the greenery but fortunately, everything is planned. Of visuals of all plants, sorted by order of preference, allow you to quickly find the “Nolina”, a plant that benefited this week from the benefits of the pot. Once this step is over, all you have to do is photograph your shrub, specify if it is there indoors or outdoors and let the pot do the rest.

A very practical point is to note, with the plant, its description and advice on its maintenance are given. Very precise and clear, they allow you to benefit from an aid for the maintenance of plants that are not in the pot.

Use of the application

It is minimalist and we almost want to say all the better. You have access to four elements: humidity, amount of fertilizer, temperature and light. In the form of a car speedometer, you can tell at a glance if all is well. The information is written in full above. It is also possible to access this data in the form of curves which are plotted over a day, a week, a month or more.

The application also allows you to choose the watering mode: optimal automatic, automatic which will make sure to hydrate the plant for a month, manual or personalized. Clearly explained and easy to modify, this choice is simple to make.

A small criticism, however, if the water is the subject of notifications, it would be nice to also have a warning message when the plant is too much in the shade or in a place with the unsuitable temperature. From the application, this is clearly visible since the color of the circle changes, but if we do not light it, too bad for us.

It is only in the event of a red flashing that you should worry. Slow, it means that the batteries have to be changed, fast, that there is a problem with the sprinkler system.
