Google has relaunched its integrations of smart clothing from the Jacquard Project, with the addition of a Yves Saint Laurent backpack; the city.
The Cit-E backpack is a black canvas backpack that costs 795 euros. It has smart functions for controlling smartphones. It will be available in mid-October. The Cit-E backpack is elegant and as well worked as any other backpack that leaves the Yves Saint Laurent workshops. Small notorious difference: the YSL brand which generally adorns its handbags and luggage is absent.
The smart health connected part of the bag is on one of its straps. This is where Google’s Jacquard is. You can interact with the strap in several ways; including dragging it up or down. But also by tapping twice and covering it. This will allow you to control a smart health connected smartphone without having to take it out of your pocket; or your backpack, for example. The strap also has a notification indicator that lets you know when alerts are coming.
The last major release from Project Jacquard was a Levi jacket. There are clearly some common details here despite the years that have passed between the release of this jacket and today. Both are powered by a removable battery. It fits into a receiver inside its main pocket. This battery is classified IP54 as being water resistant; so no worries in rainy weather.
Integration with your phone is pretty much the same. You will be able to control the playback of your music, Google Maps pings and notifications. So much for the nice thing about the Levi jacket. What is less is its price!
It’s interesting that Google hasn’t given up on smart clothing projects. You can pre-order the Cit-E bag now for 795 euros.
I am really pleased to say it is an interesting post to read.
