The coronavirus are virus at ARN frequent, of the family of Coronaviridae, which are responsible for digestive and respiratory infections in humans and animals. The virus owes its name to the appearance of its viral particles, bearing growths which evoke a crown. The virions, which consist of a capsid covered with an envelope, measure 80 to 150 nm in diameter.

The small spheres contain a acid ribonucleic (RNA) single-stranded (with a single chain), linear (non-segmented) and positive, counting 27 to 32 kilobases. This RNA replicates in the cytoplasm of the infected cell.
