ReimaGO is a range of smart clothing for children which was born from the partnership between the company Suunto and the clothing brand Reima. This range is, for the moment, only composed of a jacket equipped with a detachable motion sensor.
ReimaGO will be available from fall 2016. As I said, this smart jacket has a sensor. This is Suunto's Movesense Technology Maker which tracks the duration and intensity of physical activity. Thanks to him, physical activity becomes a game of challenges and rewards. Parents will obviously be able to participate by creating their own goals and rewards.
“Parents are worried about children who are not moving enough because they are often more attracted to consoles and mobile games. "Said Elina Björklund, CEO of Reima. She goes on to explain that "Children will be healthier from the exercise they will do, but they will also enjoy playing a cool game."
The waterproof sensor is simple to use since it is installed in the inside pocket of the garment to collect quality data since it will be thus positioned at the level of the child's chest. To date, fitness trackers for children are mainly represented in the form of bracelet and watch; they are quite identical to the products worn by adults. By placing their sensor in a pocket, Reima and Suunto wish to make the technology less intrusive or even completely transparent.
