The Intel subsidiary Basis has put a lot of effort into it: The Peak is crammed with sensors up to the roof. In addition to the "classic" heart rate, sleep and steps, this fitness tracker also measures skin conductivity and skin temperature. The manufacturer then packs the whole thing in a high-quality and – I think – handsome housing.
So while the hardware really convinces me, I unfortunately cannot 100 percent certify that the software. The app looks very chic, but unfortunately it often turns out to be a bit fragmented in operation. In addition, the application unfortunately does not get everything out of the data obtained and the user is therefore quite in the dark about what all the measured values actually mean. Most competitors don't do that better, but it's particularly unfortunate with the Peak with its countless sensors.
Another limitation at the peak concerns the sports. The base tracker commendably recognizes automatically when the user is physically active, but is limited to the three disciplines of “walking”, “running” and “cycling”. However, it is not possible to manually add workouts from other sports.
On the plus side, you also have to say that the peak is extremely easy to care for. The data acquisition works fully automatically. You don't have to constantly activate any sport, sleep or whatever mode, and with a battery life of four days, the watch is easy to maintain. And thanks to the notifications function, even a little smartwatch resonates here.
You can find more details about the fitness watch in the following ehealth. We have also published a detailed Review for Basis Peak for you.
