Apple Watch: Pebble boom thanks to lack of interest?

According to a survey by the news magazine Reuters and the market research institute Ipsos, there is little interest in the Apple Watch in the USA. The gadget should be available in stores from April 24 – in Germany, by the way, at prices between 400 and 18,000 euros.

The survey, conducted between March 9 and 13, showed that 68 percent of the 1,245 Americans who took part showed little interest in Apple's watch. 47.6 percent of these people are not at all and 20.4 percent are not particularly interested. Only 9.7 percent show great interest in the iOS wearable.

57 percent of the respondents would not prefer the Apple Watch to a competing product from Samsung, LG, Motorola & Co. – 13 percent, on the other hand, would even buy an iPhone to buy the gadget and then be able to use it. According to Reuters, the survey is representative with a tolerance of 3.2 percent.

While interest in the Smartwatch from Cupertino is limited in the USA, according to the current information, settled watch the days of increased demand for the pebble time available from Kickstarter. The hour before the Apple presentation was $ 6,000 an hour – $ 10,000 an hour on the Apple Watch announcement and $ 16,000 an hour the following day.

One can only speculate about the reasons: Apple may have at least caused a greater interest in smartwatches in general with its watch, if not with its own product. And maybe the Apple Watch is simply not what most of those interested wanted and expected – and the Pebble is now the most promising alternative for iOS users.
