From April you can buy the Apple Watch for prices between 399 and 18,000 euros. If you think there is a lot of battery power for that much money, you are wrong. While Android Wear devices usually get through the day easily, the Pebble Smartwatch even has a runtime of up to one week, the Smartwatch from Cupertino has to be plugged into the socket from time to time.
Last Monday at Apple's big event Tim Cook mentioned briefly in passing that the Apple Watch offers a runtime of 18 hours – not particularly impressive for a gadget that, with a little more sophisticated equipment, can cost 1000 euros. The now published "General Battery Information" breaks down these 18 hours more precisely and reveals more details about the not particularly impressive endurance of the smartwatch.

The predicted 18-hour runtime relates to a usage scenario that includes 90 times checking the time, checking 90 notifications, using 45 minutes of apps and a 30-minute workout including listening to music. When talking on the phone with the Apple Watch should be up to 3 hours, as a music player the gadget should last up to 6.5 hours.
If you use the Apple Watch as a pure – if somewhat expensive – watch and watch the time five times for four seconds every four seconds with a Bluetooth-smart health connected iPhone, you can count on a maximum of 48 hours of runtime. In "Power Reserve Mode", which switches on automatically when the battery is low, there should be up to 72 hours of time reading (four times an hour for four seconds). During the sporting exercise with activated heart rate monitoring and smart health connected cell phone, the smartwatch remained functional for 7 hours during Apple's battery tests.
It takes around 2.5 hours to fully charge the Apple Watch, and the battery is supposed to be 80 percent full in 1.5 hours.
