Beurer SL 70 Unboxing closed box test

The headset comes in a small, lightweight case and very convenient to open. It is therefore necessary to remove the pieces of tape placed on the sides of it, in order to be able to lift the leaf located below. Once this is done, the headset rests on a foam case optimally protecting the device.

Everything is optimized so that as many objects as possible can fit into the box. Below the case for the headset, we find the different instructions for use that operate the latter. While at his side, these are the accessories used for the proper functioning of the Beurer SL 70 which are stored in a small, fragile-looking black box. In this box are stored a USB cable, a USB plug and two spare plastic supports for the headset.

Design and Ergonomics of the Beurer SL 70

The design of the Beurer SL 70 is all in all relatively neutral. The device looks strangely like that of the Jabra Motion Office, but the use is not similar. The headset stays in a very sober design in an entirely black color with gray inserts that stay in tone. Regarding the design on the shape, the device optimizes its ergonomics to best fit the shape of the ear.

In terms of ergonomics, the object is quite simple to place. The process is identical whether it is for the right ear or the left. It is important first of all to place the bulky part of the device behind your ear with better blocking and to be able to be sure that it does not fall during your sleep. For the most maniac of you, the presence of the headset prevent you from getting to sleep quickly. However, this presence will soon be forgotten.

Application of the Beurer anti snoring headset

The Beurer SL70 headset works in symbiosis with a downloadable application and compatible with Android and iOS services. You need to pair your smartphone with the device so that it is ready to use. In order to make the best use of the headset against snoring, you need to program application settings. It starts with the intensity of the alarm, the sensitivity of the device and when to start the alarm.

Once the parameters are configured, you need to switch on the headset in order to be able to use it optimally. Then the object is placed on your ear and all you have to do is sleep. When you wake up, activate your app and tap the device again so that the recorded data can be read on your smartphone. It is still harmful that the interface of the application is as rough. The data overlaps sometimes making the elements unreadable.

This issue is particularly raised in the application health home menu. At the very bottom of the screen is a summary of the headset with the last connection and its battery level. Again, the interface is poorly designed, you really have to pay attention to the numbers. However, ideas are good like the calendar that lists your types of snoring per night as well as the context of your nights. It is possible to indicate your stress level, your alcohol consumption and your morbidity level.

Getting started with the Beurer SL 70

Using the smart health connected headset turns out to be quite easy. By itself you only need to link the device to the app, turn it on before sleep, run and see the data. The first annoyances arise first of all on the installation of the object which should be best placed on the ear. Once this is done, make sure that the headset cannot fall out while you sleep. No worries about how it works, after pressing the button, the object is ready for use.

You will need a short time to get used to the Beurer SL 70. Despite its ridiculous weight of 15 grams, having a foreign object in your sleep habits will be destabilizing. Likewise, do not expect dazzling results from the first use. The headset is mainly an accompaniment product to resolve your snoring problems. Daily monitoring is therefore necessary and a certain rigor with its owner.

Regarding the autonomy of the device, the manufacturer announces about 4 days in full battery. In fact, the battery depends a lot on usage and can vary between 3 and 4 days. Charging takes place via the USB port located below. For a full and effective charge, count about 3 hours. On the other hand, the memory is only valid for one night, it is therefore essential to transfer the data of your night as soon as you wake up.

Anti snoring headset Beurer SL 70 facing the competition

You have to face the facts straight away, there is no other device similar to the Beurer SL 70. The object created by the German manufacturer is a pioneer in this facet of products for "smart health connected sleep". On the other hand, there are other products that try to fight snoring like smart health connected pillows. For the comparison, we can only speculate on smart health connected objects on sleep that could be a success.

Nora

So the small smart health connected box Nora seems to be a good alternative. Still available on Kickstrater, the device is used to prevent snoring overnight. Via a small microphone on it, it detects snoring. As a reaction, the Nora, previously placed under the pillow, inflates to raise the user's head. This process makes it easier for the user to breathe and stops snoring. For the moment the item is available for pre-order for the price of $ 239.

In terms of a real smart health connected pillow, it is necessary to mention the Zeeq cushion from the company REM-Fit. If the concept of smart health connected pillow is not innovative, the functioning of Zeeq is completely new. It is able to detect your movements and the quality of your sleep. The other major feature of the product is that it is able to rock you with your favorite music at low volume. The anti-snoring concept appears when you snore. The cushion vibrates slightly to encourage you to change position. Again the project is on Kickstarter without being available for pre-order.

The Zeeq Smart Pillow improves sleep and prevents snoring.

Conclusion

To summarize, the Beurer SL 70 is the first “anti-snoring” smart health smart health connected object available on the market. If its operation is very simplified, it is harmful that the headset has an application that is far too coarse. If the latter is useful, its finishes are still to be reworked. However, it is important to remember a few things. Like the Luminette, the Beurer SL 70 has a limited influence. Understand that it is according to the needs of each person that the object will be useful or not. If you are a desperate case, investing € 149 may seem an acceptable solution. As for our tester, who could not snore during the tests, it is complicated to know if his effectiveness is real.
