Apple's "Watch" is to be delivered shortly – at least for early pre-orders. The competition doesn't sleep, however. For example, Google has just announced a major update for its Smartwatch OS. It should roll in on the various Android Wear models in the next few weeks, starting with LG's Watch Urbane.
The update for Android Wear includes WiFi support, among other things. This means that the smartwatch and cell phone can also communicate with each other outside of the Bluetooth range – provided that both devices are smart health connected to the Internet. Another feature that is also already known is gesture control. For example, messages can be scrolled through by turning the wrist.
With the upcoming update, Google is also expanding the always-on option of the watch face to include apps. In future, the display will remain on if necessary even when you are in an application. As with the dials, the screen darkens if you do not use the program for a long time or do not look at the display.

So far, there was no quickly accessible app drawer for Android wear devices. Google is now changing this: A tap on the screen leads directly to the selection of available programs after the update, and a contact list can be called up by swiping to the left. Another swipe of the finger then opens the menu that previously flashed when you tapped the display with direct selection options such as "speak now" or "write note".
The latest update to the Android Wear update relates to the field of communication. In response to messages, all imaginable emojis will soon be sent. The ideograms only have to be drawn on the screen – they should then be automatically recognized and converted into the corresponding standard symbols.
