LG Watch Urban LTE in hands-on: self-sufficient smartwatch

With the Watch Urbane, LG presented a new smartwatch with Android Wear at the Mobile World Congress – Kamal and Sameer have already looked at them, including hands-on video. But there is a second model that hardly differs at least in name: the Watch Urbane LTE.

Technically, the differences are significant. It starts with the software. While the Watch Urbane relies on Google's Android extension Wear, the Urbane LTE runs the WebOS developed by Palm and later taken over by LG. This is accompanied by a completely different user interface and operation. In addition, the LTE version does not require a cell phone – it does not have to connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth, but communicates independently with the cell phone network. So it can also replace a cell phone. Phoning is possible using a hands-free system or a Bluetooth headset, and you can also read and send SMS messages.

The big disadvantage: the Watch Urbane LTE is currently not planned to be launched in Germany, but will initially only be launched in South Korea. Nevertheless, we took the opportunity at the Mobile World Congress to get a first impression. You can see what we think of the LG Watch Urbane LTE in the following video.
