Withings improves its Sleep Analyzer sleep tracking device. The French specialist in general public IoT announced Tuesday April 28, 2023 to launch a new version of this smart health connected object allowing to detect sleep apnea. So What is Withings Sleep Analyzer?
A low frequency sensor
The Sleep Analyzer, the first version of which has been on the market since CES 2018, takes the form of a small fleece strip positioned under the mattress. Using a pneumatic sensor, the Sleep Analyzer measures the movements of the rib cage and the heart rate, which makes it possible to analyze the different sleep phases and their duration. The new version is also equipped with a low-frequency sensor that analyzes snoring and can determine the presence of sleep apnea. All the data collected and their analysis are visible on the Health Mate application with which the device automatically synchronizes over Wi-Fi.
The Sleep Analyzer benefits from medical CE marking, reassures Whitings. The new device was tested in a clinical study of 118 patients with sleep doctors from Antoine Béclère Hospital (Paris) and St-Pierre Hospital (Brussels). On the occasion of this Review: the percentage of true patients detected rose to 86% and the percentage of non-sick subjects correctly detected to 91%.
Withings resolutely turns to health
The new version of the Sleep Analyzer is already available at a price of 129.95 euros. With this tracker Withings continues its strategic shift from wellness products to the health sector. A market which also allows it to market its products in BtoB. For example, insurance companies setting up prevention plans with their policyholders could be interested in smart health connected health objects.
But the French specialist Withings in smart health connected watches is not the only one to launch an assault on this sector. Apple is also eyeing this juicy health market with its smart health connected watches.
