– Modular Smartwatch Blocks comes on Kickstarter
If you don't feel like watching a ehealth, you can find the content in text form here as usual:
Modular smartphones were kind of the hottest shit for a while – but somehow disappeared into the sink. It has become very, very quiet around ZTE's Eco Mobius, and Google's Project Ara has also shifted from this to next year.
The situation was similar with the modular smartwatch called Blocks, which first appeared in March 2014 – and finally started on Kickstarter on October 13th. And don't worry, what you see here is a very, very, very, very early concept. In the current promo ehealth the clock looks like this – marvel at the building blocks.
Exact technical specifications, prices and a schedule will probably not be available until next week – but the ehealth already shows that users can assemble the link bracelet from various electronic components. There is, for example – and because that's so much, I had to write it down – camera, pulse sensor, GPS module, altimeter, SIM slot, additional battery, body temperature, ECG sensor, NFC for wireless payment, kinetic charger, sensor for Oxygen saturation in the blood, heart rate monitoring, motion sensor for gestures, haptic feedback, a programmable button, USB flash memory as well as skin conductivity, air quality and fingerprint sensor. Those with big arms can look forward to more features.
Since Blocks is an open platform, third-party developers should also be able to develop link modules for the modular smartwatch. And what should I say? The watch looks really, really chic on the manufacturer's latest render ehealth. The manufacturer apparently relies on a proprietary solution for the operating system, a Snapdragon 400 should provide computing power.
