Philips Hue Lily White and Colour Ambiance Led Single Spotlight Extension: Smart Outdoor Lighting for Garden, Works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Homekit

★★★★☆ These are typical of Hue's high quality and worked flawlessly first time. Each extension cable is 5m long and it just carries 24v of power power so you join two (or more) together to get a 10m length. The cables are proprietary (see attached photos) and I haven't found anything that matches at the time or writing so if you want to extend them you'll have to do it yourself (and void the cable warranty). I used some low voltage cable and some IP68 couplers (B072R5KY4C).My single criticism (and it is significant) is that they just aren't very bright, especially if you use colours. This is possibly a limitation of the low voltage. I wanted to use one to illuminate a 4m Japanese Cherry tree from the bottom but it barely lit beyond 1.5m (in the attached photo you can't even see it against the tree lights). I have Hue bulbs in the outdoor lights attached to the house and porch which are much brighter and illuminate a wider area. I can see why Philips have done it - it avoids high voltages in the garden which on balance is probably the better option. As such, these should be viewed as accent lighting rather than fill or flood.

★★★★★ This is a great addition to any hue set up, it is amazing how much these little lights transform the back garden and it looks so magical just with the three units. It is really easy to set up and install - just need to ensure you have a power source and you are good to go. You only need one power outlet as these connect together in a chain on the one power source.I found them to be really bright and not sure on some of the other reviews...they add accent lighting and do this really well, when on the full bright white they do throw off a lot of light and much more than i was expecting based upon some of the reviews.Another review notes that you can not control this from outside the home which is incorrect - as with all the hue products, if you have you hub enabled for out of home control you can control these lights when away from you wifi network - i can confirm that this works and works the same way as all other Hue lighting.Another quick tip, you can connect a maximum of 5 of these light units into the one power source...any more than this and you need to get a new base set with the power supply. This was confirmed to me by Hue and in the instructions - it is to do with the low power and the long cables used.The set contains everything you need to get started with a 5m cable per light and the power source too - word of warning, once you get these you will want more! They are great and transform the outdoor space!

★☆☆☆☆ Had a number of these units installed spent thousands of pounds and within week one unit has already failed and the lense has internal condensation. This will fall onto the LED chips and fail. disappointed as invested in this new technology ny Philips

★★★★☆ As I am a Virgin Media customer I had to switch off the 5 GHz network on my router. after this I had to complete the longer way of pairing. However after this everything was fine and the light work beautifully well with Echo.Update 15/10/2018: So after resetting my router for a different connection reason. I noticed that the router was being connected at 5GHz again. After loggin into the router it seems once you have the lights set up you CAN then turn ack on the 5GHz signal. So this is a perfect set up for me. I will most likely be getting another set of these in the near future.

★★★★★ I previously had the 7w (600 lm) versions and after a year of using them I thought maybe we could go brighter. I got the 9w (800 lm) versions now and they have made a massive difference. I love the cool white (RGBCW) colour over the warm white (RGBW) versions because you get an actual white colour rather than some orangey yellow colour. You can still achieve the orangery yellow colour with these RGBCW bulbs because you get a wide range of colours than the RGBW ones.I read up on these bulbs before hand and sources suggest they are very similar to Phillips hue bulbs but they are a fraction of the cost but a bit dimmer, and when the bulb is off it uses hardly any energy at all.That's something that put this brand ahead of others for me. There are a lot of brands for these bulbs that actually use a noticeable amount of electricity when turned off, where as these ones are very efficient and I can't fault them. Oh yeah and they don't need a hub at all, which makes them very easy to set up and keeps the costs low, yet again! I 100% recommend these bulbs.

★★★★★ I've spent quite a while trying to pick out smart plugs. There are so many of them. Finally I bought these and I've been very happy with them. They are excellent!The design is beautiful! It's very minimalistic and clean looking with no logos at all, which I really like. It's small enough not to cause problems with UK style power switches that have ON/OFF buttons next to them.Functionality is great! It was very easy to setup. You can scan the barcode found in the manual to download the app, but I would instead recommend you just go to Google Play and download the "Smart Life", it's the same one and you're more likely to get updates from Google Play. As for features, it's got pretty much everything I need:Normal On/OffA flexible schedulerTimer - Can be used to turn on at a given time, or if it's on, then turn it off at a given time.Finally, for those of you wondering, yes, this does have an energy monitoring functionality. It works really well!The app works over Wi-Fi as well as Cellular networks so you can control the plugs from anywhere.The only thing I wish is that the energy monitor also displayed Wh and Ah measurements, but that's pretty much it.Excellent plugs, highly recommended!

★★★★★ These things simply do what tech products should (but often don't). Very easy to set up via Smartlife app and skill. Alexa recognises them at once and they can be controlled from phone or with voice. Almost of equal importance the plug is small and doesn't block other plugs or overlap any socket mounted switches. Using these plugs is limited to ON or OFF only, no timers or other gizmos are available, I don't need them!I now have 4 plugs in everyday use, 2 of which I have had for at least 9 months without any problems.

★★★★☆ I have bought a few of these after trying out a sample purchase. Quite compact and straight forward to connect to a wireless network and also stable with a good range. There is a slight interference between the on/off switch of a socket when plugged in but if the socket switch is in the 'on' position it's absolutely fine (you would want the socket switched on anyway!). Alexa control also works well! I have taken away one star because one of the plugs needed reconnection to my network, but overall I am very satisfied with the purchase.
