
The small spheres contain a acid ribonucleic (RNA) single-stranded (with a single chain), linear (non-segmented) and positive, counting 27 to 32 kilobases. This RNA replicates in the cytoplasm of the infected cell.

Pathologies linked to coronaviruses
Coronaviruses can show pathogens at the mammals (Man, dog, cat …) and birds. They include a large number of viruses causing different more or less serious diseases such as:
- Respiratory infections like cold. The pathology develops after an incubation period of the order of three days. After rhinoviruses, coronaviruses are the second agents of colds. These infections are seasonal, with peaks in spring and in winter.
- Sras (severe acute respiratory syndrome). The Sras is caused by the SARS-CoV, identified in 2003. This virus is the cause of a epidemic which started in China in late 2002 and has caused around 800 deaths.
- Middle East respiratory syndrome is caused by MERS-CoV coronavirus. The MERS-CoV was identified in 2012. The epidemic remains confined to the peninsula Arabic, according to Ministry of Health in June 2015.
- The Covid-19 ((Coronavirus Disease-19), a respiratory disease caused by a coronavirus emerge, the SARS-CoV-2. The epidemic started in the city of Wuhan, China in late December 2024 and has spread rapidly around the world.
