When they launched their first air purifier two years ago, Molekule had an idea in mind: fight pollution. This manufacturer has designed a specially patented system called PECO technology, for Photo Electrochemical Oxidation. This system destroys pollutants on a molecular level. The company has just announced its new product, the Molekule Air Mini.
This air purifier is suitable for smaller rooms, up to 23 m² in size. The Molekule Air Mini measures 30 cm high with a diameter of 21 cm and weighs just over 3 kg. It can therefore find its place in a room or a studio. Its designers also made it little noisy. Thus, its level of decibel emitted varies between 30 and 52. Its filter has a lifespan of 6 months, at which time it will have to be changed.
This air purifier even takes care of viruses
Speaking of filters, this device does not use a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) air filter that is commonly found on most purifiers. Instead of simply catching polluting particles in its nets, he destroys them. This concerns volatile organic compounds, bacteria, mold, viruses or allergens. This technology uses light to create an oxidative reaction which transforms molecules into carbon dioxide (CO2) or water. The Molekule Air Mini therefore attacks pollutants 1,000 times smaller than HEPA.
This technology was developed by Doctor Yogi Goswami, thanks to research that started 20 years ago at a university in Florida. He basically wanted to find a solution to his son's asthma problems. It is now the air pollution in general against which he goes to war. Its Molekule Air Mini air purifier is available for pre-order for $ 399. Renting filters, once every six months, costs 99 euros per year.
