Lenovo is the inventor of the hybrid laptop as we know it today. Besides, it was called Yoga and it was he who gave his name to the convertible range of the Chinese manufacturer. For several years, Lenovo has been trying to use these Yoga in different, sometimes exotic, formats, but it is only when Chinese returns to basics that it pulls out of the game. Example? The Yoga 920 was a very good PC, the C930 which succeeded it and which was more a concept than anything else, could not convince us.

On paper, the C940 model that we received as a Review to make a cardboard. From the latest Intel processor to the 13.9-inch screen, including the battery, everything is seamless. Even the price displayed on the label, which is 1,550 euros. Enough to position it in a segment where competition is raging. But Lenovo looks confident. Is right ?
We start this Review with a little reminder. There are two types of hybrid laptops. 2-in-1, whose keyboard and screen can be separated, such as the Microsoft Surface Book; and convertibles. The Yoga C940 falls into this second category because its 13.9 inch touch screen is integral with the keyboard part. But since it is mounted on a central hinge that allows it to rotate 360 °, the machine can be used in four different ways.
- In classic laptop mode, the screen facing you, the keyboard under your fingers.
- In tent mode (as below), we use the finger (or a stylus) and the tactile interface of Windows 10 to control the machine.
- In stand or display mode, the keyboard keys rest against the table, the screen is turned towards you. Same thing, there too, it is the fingers and / or the stylus which are used to navigate.
- In tablet mode, the screen is positioned on the back of the keyboard. You grab the Yoga C940 with your full hand and use it like a large iPad Pro.

What you will learn
Beautiful finishes and what you need in connectors
The first contact with the Yoga C940, the tone is set. It is a machine that is made for traveling. Its case is made of a metallic alloy, solid, pleasant under the fingers, a guarantee of resistance to journeys and possible involuntary ill-treatment. Like many of the manufacturer's laptops, it displays a shade halfway between anthracite gray and coppery chocolate which suits it rather well.
The measurements of this ultraportable are slightly larger than the current standards. Our caliper is precisely 1.78 cm thick at the highest (It is therefore 26% thicker than the average) and the scale announces 1.38 kg (i.e. a weight 16% heavier than the average). This does not prevent him from being a real nomad. Only downside: the charger weighs more than 400 grams and is quite bulky. However, it delivers 65 watts of power and the machine consumes up to 60 when you tickle it. But, as we will see later, taking the power supply with you is not always compulsory.
A quick tour of the box tells us that the connection is basic but sufficient. Lenovo did not bet on the USB Type-C at all and it is fortunate. There are however two sockets of this type, one intended to recharge the battery for example, the other being able to then act as ehealth output thanks to the reinforcement of the Thunderbolt 3. A full-size USB 3.0 port is also part of the game, all like an audio jack that combines microphone input and audio output. All this little world is condensed on the left side of the machine, we like.

On the right side, there is only the power button, located very high. Thus, there is no chance that you will hit it – causing the machine to shut down unexpectedly – when using an external mouse.

For connections to the Web, not surprisingly, it is Wi-Fi mandatory. The module present supports the latest standard, Wi-Fi 6. You are ready for high speed transfers.
Keyboard, touchpad and stylus: you can control it the way you want
We mentioned above that it was possible to use a stylus on the screen panel. Lenovo delivers one with the machine, it hides at the top right, near the hinge. This pencil 2.0 can completely replace the finger or touchpad when you use the machine in laptop mode.

It will even be an excellent ally in other modes of use and, to avoid you losing it, Lenovo had the very good idea of finding a discreet place in the case. This stylus is charged via two small connectors, directly on the main battery. Although thinner than an Apple Pencil or a Surface Pen, its body fits well in hand and slides on the slab is nice.

It is possible to configure the two small buttons via the dedicated software interface so that once pressed, they act as an eraser or the line can be thickened / thinned on the fly.

Draw, sketch or even take notes directly from the screen – and provided you have the appropriate applications – the pen is comfortable for everything. Only the ultra precise clipping will sometimes be a bit laborious, but for the shell in imagery, it is more than enough.
If you are uncomfortable with the stylus, the touchpad will be happy to come to your rescue when you use the Yoga C940 in laptop mode. Its surface is well proportioned, the glide is pleasant and it reacts well to manipulations with several fingers. By default, the sensitivity of the cursor is not high enough, better to increase it.
The backlit keyboard, for its part, is a classic Lenovo model. The keys are not entirely square as they opt for a rounded shape on the lower edge. They are a good size (except the button Entrance, it's annoying!) and fall well under the fingers. However, we found them a bit noisy. They emit a fairly strong clicking noise but nothing unacceptable.

We salute the effort made by Lenovo so that the keyboard can occupy the entire space of the tray. For this he deported the audio system in the hinge of the screen.
Correct brightness, high contrast ratio and colorimetry … catastrophic
This is the trend: we plan the edges on the tiles of laptops. Lenovo follows fashion and has managed to minimize the black edges of fire its 13.3 inch screen to gain display area. Thus, it is a 13.9 inch panel which is embedded in the housing. No change in definition, however: we stay in Full HD and that's fine!
Touchscreen requires, the glossy coating is required and, here, it is a real mirror. It catches all the reflections and all the light parasites that can come from surrounding windows. Fortunately, its hybrid condition gives it a hinge that offers the possibility of varying the opening angle, this will partially limit the "damage".

You can also push the brightness of the slab to work on the terrace or in an overly lit open space. We have measured an average maximum value at 343 cd / m2 and a peak at 361 cd / m2 top right of the slab. It is correct, nothing more. The contrast ratio, however, exceeds 1860: 1, a hell of a good value that we don't often come across. And to top it all, the homogeneity is really excellent, with a value of 0.009.
A brilliant slab still passes. A slightly fair brightness too, it will not be the first and even less the last. No, the real weak point of the Lenovo screen is its non-compliance with colors. The Delta E is 4.84 and it is the worst we have measured on hybrids so far (the average is 2.7). And the reds are the culprits since they are predominant and overshadow the good benefits of the greens and blues. The general color temperature is between 6700K and 7200K instead of the regulatory 6500K. Gamma, for its part, bursts the ceiling with values greater than 2.3 whatever the shades of white.
If this does not interfere with the eyes of the less seasoned or little riding on the accuracy and precision of color, photographers and other lovers of the image will find fault. It is a shame because this hybrid shelters a platform which is at the same time at ease for the traditional and more specialized applications, like those of retouching for example.
New show of force for Intel Ice Lake processors
We mentioned in the introduction, this Lenovo Yoga C940 uses the latest generation of Intel chips. We are talking about the Ice Lake models engraved in 10 nm (unlike the Comet Lake, engraved in 14 nm which are also from the tenth generation) and whose graphics have been improved.

On board are therefore an Intel Core i7-1065G7 which takes advantage of the best of the Iris Plus graphics controllers, 16 GB of DDR4 memory and 512 GB of storage on SSD (NVMe). We compared this platform with several others, of Intel and AMD generations more or less recent or even equivalent, and whose benefits are to be discovered below.

We quickly notice that the Yoga C940 (in midnight blue) does a little better than the Dell XPS 13 classic at the end for 2025 (turquoise). It is also shoulder to shoulder with the 13-inch Surface Laptop 3 (purple) and also with its direct competitors, the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 4K version (yellow) and its Full HD pendant (green), almost equipped identically
On the graphic side, no surprises. The Lenovo Yoga C940 (still in midnight blue) is on par with Microsoft's latest Surface Laptop on theoretical tests.

We had fun running a few games on the Yoga C940. Only the titles whose graphics engines are not very resource-hungry pass happily without the need to lower the definition of the image or the levels of details. However, to attack AAA dated a year or two, it was HD (720p) with a setting of details in Medium or Low that we had to select in the graphics options, under penalty of attending a wonderful slide evening.
Whatever the usage or stress scenarios that we may have subjected to the Lenovo, we will note however that the processor has remained straight in its frequencies. He was never a victim of throttle, with even the possibility of playing with the Turbo mode when the computational loads were significant and should really have made the circuits very hot.
The manufacturer has worked well on its copy of the internal heat dissipation and, on the outside, it's the same. The maximum recorded is 42.3 ° C under the machine (ambient T. at 22.1 ° C) when the palm rest remains at 28 ° C. Finally, on the noise side, it is flawless: 33.5 dB maximum in intense stress. Lenovo hat.
Lenovo Yoga C940 is the most enduring hybrid
During our Yoga 920 Review for 2025, this machine impressed us with its record endurance for a convertible. The C940 follows in the footsteps of its predecessor with very good performance in our Review protocols. As you can see on our graph, Yoga (in midnight blue) lasts between 10 and 11 hours depending on the usage scenarios, with a screen brightness set to 200 cd / m2 and Wi-Fi enabled.

In terms of versatile autonomy, it has no competitors in the world of PCs released between late 2024 and early 2023 for the time being. Even the latest MacBooks are beaten.
In ehealth streaming, Yoga even pulverizes the competition, including the very good MacBook Pro 13 2024 which is certainly not a hybrid, but one of the most enduring machines in the ultraportable category, all formats combined.
It is however worth noting that the machine takes time to recharge. To reach 50% charge, it takes more than an hour and twenty minutes and it fills up in more than 3 hours.
