Stdcheck reviews –  Is STDCheck the Best At-Home Test?

STDCheck Reviews & Buying Guide

Every year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) predicts almost 20 million new cases of sexually transmitted infections (STDs). STD infections can last for a long time, and most people aren’t aware they’re sick until they have advanced symptoms. Screening is essential for efficiently preventing the spread of the disease from person to person, as well as the first step toward effective treatment.

STDcheck makes it easy and private to have STD tests. You don’t need to talk to a doctor or use your name. The quality of the testing is at par with that of major hospitals.

We break down how STDcheck does what they do and you can make an informed decision on where to get tested.

What is STD Check?

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) have always been a worry, even if we don’t talk about them publicly. Every year, millions of new STD cases are reported in the United States alone . Many young people have become infected with STDs in recent years. While most STDs are curable, early detection is crucial. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms associated with one of the STDs, you should get tested as soon as possible. Getting tested on a regular basis is also beneficial.

Although the prospect of taking an STD test may make you nervous, it is worthwhile in the long run. Because, even if the test results are positive, you may start treating it right away and cure it. There are a number of STD testing options available. STDcheck.com is one of these services. This STDcheck.com review will go over pretty much all there is to know about this service. They’ve been providing their services for a few years now.

What is STDcheck?

STDcheck is a testing company that allows you to browse a variety of STD tests and order the one you need from the comfort and privacy of your own home at any time. You can order the test from the comfort of your own home, submit your sample at a testing site, and see your findings from any location.

With 4,500+ partnering testing centers, there’s a high chance you will find one close to you. After a positive test, they can prescribe and distribute necessary medications to treat an infection.

What types of STDcheck tests available ?

Chlamydia

The best way to test for chlamydia is to use a nucleic acid amplification test. It has also been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. For chlamydia testing, STDcheck.com employs the same method. You will be required to submit a urine sample for this. Then they’ll look at it to see if Chlamydia trachomatis, the bacteria that causes this infection, is present.

It simply takes a few minutes of your time to complete the test, and the results are usually available within a day or two. Furthermore, there is no swabbing, pricking, fasting, or undressing involved in the testing process. STDcheck states that its chlamydia test has a 99.3% accuracy rate, which is higher than most other testing companies.

Gonorrhea

Another STD that many individuals have is gonorrhea. Early detection, as with any other STD, can help you manage outbreaks in a less painful manner. They collect a little sample of your urine to check for gonorrhea. The approach is known as a nucleic acid amplification test, and it is the method of choice for gonorrhea testing.

The test seeks out and identifies the bacteria that causes this disease. The bacteria is called Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and it signifies you have a gonorrhea infection if it is present.

Before you get at the place, make sure you haven’t urinated for at least an hour. If you test positive for this infection, you can easily seek medical assistance from the company’s doctor. Antibiotics are effective in treating this infection.

STDcheck provides standalone tests for chlamydia and gonorrhea. But, to ensure that you don’t have both or either, it may be helpful to get the combined panel which includes both tests.

Herpes

Many people believe that the herpes virus can be transmitted orally or genitally, and that oral herpes is caused by type 1 simplex (HSV-1) and genital herpes is caused by type 2 simplex (HSV-2) (HSV-2). While type 1 simplexes are more commonly found in the mouth and type 2 in the genitals, both simplexes can be found in the mouth and genitals. They can also go dormant for long periods of time without causing any symptoms. Each variety has its own treatment regimen and risk of transmission, so knowing which one you have is critical to determining what you should do.

STDcheck employs a serological test that is highly accurate in identifying and distinguishing HSV-1 and HSV-2. The lab will screen your blood for both kinds of Herpes I and II when you buy the combined Herpes I & II test panel. Individual tests that look for HSV-1 or HSV-2 can also be ordered. You may only need to test for one of the simplexes if you’ve had sexual contact with someone who has one of them. Given the small price difference, we believe it is more prudent to check for both whenever possible.

Hepatitis A, B, and C

There are three types of hepatitis- A, B, and C. Not everyone can get the shot to prevent certain types of hepatitis. Hepatitis B is more serious than hepatitis A because you can get it without any symptoms and it can stay in your system for a long time before it has any symptoms.

Blood-to-blood contact, such as infusions, shared needles, and unsanitary tattoo or piercing practices, causes the majority of hepatitis transmissions. Transmission from the fluid exchange during sex is uncommon, but it does happen.

These three hepatitis viruses have slightly varied testing requirements. The hepatitis A test is a serological test that looks for antibodies to immunoglobulin M (IgM). These are some of the early signs of hepatitis A infection, appearing as soon as two weeks after exposure. They can last for up to six months, at which point a test for immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies is required.

The hepatitis B virus has a surface antigen that can be detected with a surface antigen test. The virus is contagious when it first enters the body but remains in the body for the duration of the disease, so surface antigen tests work well at any stage of chronic hepatitis.

The STDcheck hepatitis C test is similar to the one performed for hepatitis A and looks for the IgG antibodies, rather than the IgM. That means you have to wait six to twelve weeks after exposure for an accurate result. An IgG test for hepatitis C may come back positive even in the case of a past infection. Hence, an additional RNA test is necessary to determine if a positive result is due to an active infection.

You could add Hepatitis A, B, and C directly to cart along with STDcheck Coupon code

HIV

HIV was a difficult disease to diagnose and the public’s fears still persist today. In addition to testing anonymously, you can now expect a more comprehensive treatment plan than those from years ago. The life expectancy of many HIV patients is comparable with uninfected people today.

There are two types of HIV to watch out for: HIV-1 and HIV-2. The more common type, HIV-1, accounts for around 95% of global cases. The other type, HIV-2 is less infectious and slower to develop

Two tests offered by STDCheck are 4th-generation HIV tests. The 4th-generation P24 test due to its high sensitivity can detect the HIV virus in as soon as a few weeks, while antibodies do not show up in blood until years after being infected.

Compared to the 4th-gen test, which requires around three weeks after exposure to produce a reliable result, the RNA test can identify an HIV infection in 9 days.

If you test positive for HIV, STDcheck will provide a confirmation test without any additional costs or fees.

Syphilis

Syphilis can be related to bacterial infections and often has similar symptoms. If left untreated, a patient may not experience any symptoms for years. However, if left untreated in the late stages, syphilis can cause significant problems in the heart and eyes.

If you believe you may have contracted syphilis from a sexual partner, get tested. STDcheck offers standalone syphilis tests and it is also included in their 10-test panel.

You’ll first take an RPR test, which checks your blood to see if you have antibodies. If it’s positive, then the lab will run a second test using TPA to identify the bacteria itself.

10 Test Panel For STDs

Because most STDs don’t cause any symptoms, identifying and diagnosing them can be difficult. Furthermore, if a person has one STD, they are likely to have one or more other STDs. You’d be better off choosing for a test bundle that detects all of the prevalent STDs to save the day. Furthermore, instead of individual std tests, you can save money by choosing this route.

STDcheck’s 10-test panel covers all of the most common and widespread illnesses, including hepatitis A, B, chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea, and a few more. If you test positive for any of the infections, these health tests will help you get identified and begin treatment.

How did we rate STDcheck reviews?

STDcheck was evaluated based on a number of factors, including cost, accuracy, customer service, and efficiency, to name a few. We also put our testers through a variety of the company’s products. Their stories provided a lot of context and specificity to everything else our research had to show us.

The expense

7/10

Among similar websites, the majority of STDcheck’s tests are in the low-to-mid-range pricing bracket. There are also no upfront hidden expenditures to be concerned about, such as processing or shipping fees. STDcheck also offers free re-testing of positive HIV and syphilis samples.

Adding on a doctor consultation, STDcheck’s clients will pay an additional $95.

The STDcheck website might not advertise the 200% fee, and the company might pass that cost on to those who pay for the tests – such as doctors or those who use it. It’s unfair to ask people with STDs to pay for a test that could be priced deeply, and especially not well-advertised.

Calculate the average cost of monthly doctor’s costs for their consumer base, redistribute that cost into the prices of their tests, and then give consultation services for free. That way, those who are fortunate enough to test negative would face some of the burden rather than dumping it on those who are in a more difficult situation.

Customer care

8.9/10

Customer service with STDcheck is helpful and prompt. They have live chat where you can get answers to difficult questions and interact with real people instead of automated bots.

The lack of an appointment system is one of the most thoughtful parts of the entire system. After purchasing your test, you can walk out the door and have your sample collected at your nearest facility. If your schedule allows, you can also wait a few days. Of course, for obvious health concerns, we don’t recommend delaying your test any longer than necessary. Even yet, few doctors or clinics can offer the convenience of not having to take time off work or sacrificing your lunch break to get in an appointment.

STDcheck’s patient contact outreach is a cornerstone of their care, in our opinion. It’s impossible to think of a more unpleasant discussion than informing a recent sexual partner that you’ve tested positive for an STD and that they should be tested as well. STDcheck takes care of the grunt work for you, and they do it anonymously. Unless you’re the only sexual partner they’ve had in recent memory, your partners will never know the test message came from a positive result in your life.

Keep in mind that STDcheck’s customer service excellence only extends to the lab’s front door. These labs aren’t STD testing centers; they’re practice partners, and once you’re inside, you’re at their mercy. Some labs handle consumers significantly better than others, according to our research.

Efficiency

8/10

The purchasing process is one of the most efficient components of the STDcheck experience. From start to finish, the website directs you to exactly what you need, and if you don’t know what you need, each test’s purchasing page is jam-packed with concise, critical information. Their representatives are also on hand to address any inquiries you may have.

The average time you’ll spend at a facility, according to STDcheck, is around five minutes. This includes checking in, waiting, providing any necessary samples, and departing. However, during our first round of testing, one of our testers came at a Quest Diagnostics after waiting an hour, only to be turned away because they didn’t have the paperwork STDcheck indicated they’d sent over.

STDcheck can still brag about its turnaround time. STDcheck gives findings faster than just about any at-home testing service, in part because you don’t have to worry about shipping times. For most exams, you’ll hear back from them within 1-2 business days. One of our testers submitted a sample around 2 p.m. on Monday and received findings shortly after 8 p.m. the following day, for a total turnaround time of around 30 hours.

Quality and accuracy

9.0/10

STDcheck doesn’t provide you with on-site collection kits like an average at-home service would, so quality depends a little more on which supplies your local facilities use. However, all of these facilities are CLIA-certified and use FDA approved tests, so no matter where you go, you’ll get top-quality testing.

STDcheck also suggests the most viable testing windows for each of their tests, urging people to wait a little longer than their competitors to get tested for certain illnesses. This suggestion demonstrates how the company prioritizes the accuracy of your test over your convenience or the company’s immediate profit line. Nonetheless, we believe that both of those sacrifices are morally sound.

You can access HIV/AIDS tests from STDcheck. The HIV RNA Early Detection Test is accurate, and tells you if the virus is present, long before the antibody test does.

How to use the STDcheck testing process

Step 1 – Order your STD test

Go to STDcheck.com, select the testing packages you want and pay with your credit card. These tests are FDA-approved and if you can’t afford it at the moment, you can pay later with a nominal charge.

Testing kits are a great way to make the process of diagnosing infections more convenient. Plus, with Innerbody Research readers, there’s $10 off for everyone.

Step 2: Choose a test center

You can find a testing center near you by entering your ZIP code or using GPS. There are more than 4,500 testing centers in America, most of which are open during standard business hours.

You will first provide some personal information such as your name, gender, date of birth, and preferred payment method. You will then receive a personal test code to write down which you don’t want to lose.

It’s advisable to examine your choices of laboratories before you make an order. There might be differences among different providers, so it is necessary to review the ratings of a given lab before proceeding.

Step 3: Visit the test center

Testing is an easy process at your local lab – there is no need for appointments and no long waiting times. You can get tested, leave and show you’re already in good health!

Bring your test code for STDcheck. You can either fax it to the lab or print it out. Payment must be made online rather than in lab.

Step 4: Receive your results

30 hours is the average turnaround time for STDcheck. They send your test results back to you within one or two working days.

You can choose to receive your data via text or email, as well as opt to call in.

You can always call the company’s Care Advisors and they will answer your questions. They have an example result image on their website which is helpful, but it doesn’t match our testers’.

Step 5:Consult a doctor if you test positive

If you test positive, it is advisable to make an appointment with our doctors. You can expect the same quality of treatment for a lower price when you speak to one of our physicians in person. If cost or your insurance coverage prevents you from visiting a doctor, there are other options such as therapy or support groups.

Step 6 (Optional): Send anonymous notifications

One unique feature about STDcheck is the ability to send anonymous notifications to partners. It’ll let them know that they have a high chance of contracting the STD and might want to get tested as well.

Shipping and returns

These are the options if you choose not to test your Copymatic experience:

If you cancel within 21 days, you will get back your money minus a 20% cancellation fee.

If you cancel your exam order later than 21 days, you will receive credit that can be used to purchase another test.

How STDcheck Protects Your Privacy?

You can now use your FSA or HSA card to buy an at-home STD test. To make the purchase, just enter your FSA/HSA card number when you go to check out.

Under the payment option, you can contact STDcheck via email for help using your FSA/HSA card. But, even if their payment option is underwhelming, it does provide the best privacy by not sharing your health records with your insurance company or doctor.

The importance of privacy

STDcheck uses the HIPAA guidelines and security protocols to keep your data secure and private. With their service, you can have a quick and painless way of getting tested for STDs free of charge. You don’t have to disclose a name when ordering a test or submitting a sample, and your test results are solely visible to you.

You will not be reported to any insurance company with your STDcheck test, and they cannot store your records.

Payments are not explicit, and any charges or payments to STDcheck are written as “HealthLabs.com”. Notification emails for STDcheck forget to mention the nature of the test until you approve it.

If you test positive for an STD, STDcheck lets you send an anonymous, untraceable message to any previous sexual partners, advising them to be tested as well. The information comes from STDcheck, not from you. This technique is completely anonymous; there is no way for the previous sexual partner(s) to figure out who sent the message.

When it comes to labs, there may be a lack of privacy, as these facilities have been strained by the pandemic. We found that lab employees do not provide adequate private space for patients which can lead to privacy issues.

STDCheck reviews – What we learned from our testing experience

For STDcheck, some of our testers had positive experiences whereas others did not. These experiences depended on the test.

The process of purchasing a product

The purchase process for the test panel was simple, and we were able to use fake names. Moreover, the site did not require a credit card name.

Try using unique aliases to avoid confusion. For example, if you wanted to use a fake name, don’t choose something common such as John or Jane Doe.

We wanted to find the nearest lab, but the site directed us to another page that had a map. This prompted us to select a different lab but we ignored it because our original selection was the closest. However, this ended up being a mistake and we had to drive much further than anticipated.

When the process was complete, our testers were able to choose to print their lab work order or to fax it to the lab of their choice automatically. Upon completion of this process, our testers were required to take only the order number generated on website with them.

Learn what’s happening in lab

One of our testers described their experience in the clinic as uncomfortable and unprofessional. This was because the waiting area was tiny and one person had to play both the role of receptionist and sample collector simultaneously. The check-in system also failed to recognize the person’s ID, so they had to input personal information in order to receive an appointment.

At the lab, there was only one room and it was right next to the waiting area. Regardless of how many patients needed a check-in personnel, the door was always left open for all to hear.

One of their top features is the promise of anonymity. That’s not what we experienced in our Quest Diagnostics lab, though.

The people who tried the STDcheck faxing service never received their fax test result. The internet confirmation didn’t work, so our testers had to return home without getting tested.

After visiting a different Quest Diagnostics, things went much more smoothly. While order codes were not available on their system, faxes still went through without a hitch. The wait time was also drastically reduced due to better technology.

There are no doors and patients can see each other inside the collection rooms. These room’s sole separation comes from being divided into two, three-quarter walls separating them. The inconvenience of this arrangement is that due to not being in a clear room, patients may overhear private information from one another. In spite of this downside, blood collections were quick and painless, so afterwards the patients left their appointments.

If you have the time, visit a lab with a good reputation. If you can plan your time better and make an appointment instead of coming in as a walk-in, you will likely not have to wait as long for the consultation.

It wasn’t until a few hours after coming back to the office that we saw no update on our account pages even though we submitted a sample.

Waiting for results

There were no status updates in the app during this time and when we submitted, it showed that we were still waiting. They offer a 12-hour turnaround for an additional $50 which may be worth it for people who need to know their status urgently.

30 hours after the test, we received an email indicating whether the results were normal or abnormal. If a disease wasn’t detected, it was simply marked as not detected. For any other outcome, an email was sent with the result, and a clear-cut label of either ‘normal’ or ‘abnormal’.

If you want to get a more detailed look into your lab results, you can download a PDF with all of the test data. While not available for every test, you will be able to see what kind of test was performed and get explicit results when applicable.

How STDcheck compares to the competition?

Between doctors’ clinics and at-home testing kits, STDcheck occupies an unusual niche. Unlike doctors’ clinics, STDcheck gives you a little more privacy and control, which is especially useful if you wish to use a false name and live near a secret lab. You are not obligated to make or keep an appointment. Of course, you’ll still need to go into a public place and speak with a few medical professionals. STDcheck and at-home testing from firms like Everlywell, MyLAB Box, and Priority STD Testing might be a better match.

To begin with, STDcheck concentrates solely on STDs. That means their partner labs are adept at taking samples and performing the tests needed to assure accurate results. One disadvantage is that the testing capabilities of their specialist labs are relatively limited; no STDcheck lab can process anything other than a urine or blood sample. As a result, they don’t have access to HPV testing. Individuals can only get an FDA-approved HPV test through a cervical swab, which STDcheck can’t currently perform. However, because STDcheck is one of the few companies that offers the HIV RNA Early Detection Test, anyone concerned about recent exposure should take advantage of their services.

For ordering your test and receiving results, STDcheck shares the online convenience element with their competitors. They even go a step further by allowing you to contact prior sexual partners on your behalf in the event of a positive test. They make an anonymous recommendation that these partners be evaluated as well.

Not having to collect their sample is also a benefit for some people. Everything from poking yourself in the finger and drawing blood to digging a feces sample with a plastic stick is included in at-home kits. Not only are those encounters occasionally unpleasant, but administering them yourself introduces a level of inexperienced user error that you won’t find at an STDcheck.

FAQ

Is it necessary for me to have a doctor’s prescription or to undergo any type of examination in order to test?

All you need to do is order a test and visit the clinic at your convenience. After testing positive for an STD, the doctor will write you a prescription for medication for an additional fee of $95-

When should I be tested for STDs if I’m concerned about recent sexual activity?

If you’ve been away from the doctor for a while and haven’t had a check up, now is a better time than any. It is important if you have symptoms that could indicate AIDS, to get tested for it immediately.

Is it true that the incubation and window times for different STDs differ?

It is important to know the difference between an incubation period and a window period. An incubation period is the time between when someone becomes infected, and when their symptoms appear. A window period is the time immediately after infection, during which a test may not be able to detect that someone has an STD. Incubation periods are different from Window periods because tests can be able to detect disease before noticeable symptoms have appeared. Modern and more sophisticated STD tests also have shorter windows than older forms of testing.

It’s critical to understand the different window periods for STD tests if you want to make sure you’re testing for recent sexual activity correctly. The minimal window periods for the available STD tests are summarized in the chart below.

A comprehensive and regular STD screening is important for your safety. One visit can detect chlamydia and gonorrhea, which will be detectable after seven days. If you’re at risk for one STD, it’s likely you’re at risk for another.

Is it necessary for me to be re-tested after a positive result?

Whether or not you must re-test depends on the STI. See the incubation time for more information, and consult your doctor. Certain positives will automatically trigger a second test with the same sample. AIDS test results that are both positive are automatically re-tested with a confirmation to find out if they are false positives. The company provides these confirmation tests free of charge, but only if there is proof of this happening with the initial test.

Is it possible for me to have numerous STDs at the same time?

Yes. If you have an STD, you are more susceptible to getting another STI as well. Additional people contract STIs from the same partner, so it’s always best to get tested multiple times rather than just once.

How often should I have my blood tested?

If you’ve already tested positive for certain STDs and gotten treatment, you’ll need to re-test after a particular amount of time has passed (see the chart above). We should all be tested on a regular basis, although the recommended bare minimum testing schedules can differ depending on our activities and exposure. The CDC provides information for a variety of populations, and we’ve included a chart below that summarizes their recommendations. AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR, ALL SEXUALLY ACTIVE PEOPLE SHOULD TEST. You may need to be tested more frequently depending on your level and type of activity.

Symptoms like pain while urinating, rashes, and discharge should be noticed right away and tested immediately.

Regular tests should be a part of a routine for all adults, even those in monogamous relationships.

Is it possible for me to contract the same STD again after treatment?

Yes. Treatment does not guarantee that you will not become infected again in the future. It’s also critical to complete your therapy; else, you may never be able to fully recover from the initial infection. Finally, with the exception of hepatitis A and B, herpes I and II, and HIV, make sure to re-test after finishing treatment to ensure that you’ve gotten rid of the STD at the appropriate period.

Bottom Line – Is It The Best Online STDCheck?

STDcheck.com has been in business for a few years and has a very excellent reputation. This business checks all of the requirements. Their fees are reasonable, and they provide lightning-fast answers, a straightforward testing method, and, most importantly, complete anonymity.

This organization has been an apparent choice for many individuals because they also offer a consultation with one of their doctors. Their doctors are all licensed and qualified. Furthermore, the FDA has accepted their experiments. What more could we possibly ask for?

You may experience a lot of tension and worry if you are afraid of STDs. In such difficult times, STDcheck’s well-designed std testing process can help you escape the conflict.
