The start-up Mark One has just launched pre-orders for a smart health connected mug designed by the famous Yves Béhar (who notably designed Edyn or even the Jawbone UP) and responding to the pretty name of Vessyl.
The cup will be able to detect the liquid as well as the quantity poured thanks to sensors capable of identifying the fat, calories, sugar, caffeine or alcohol in the content. The model developed by Mark One even wants to be able to distinguish Coca-Cola from Pepsi! The smart health connected cup can even tell if the coffee is strong or not by analyzing the caffeine content of the liquid. On the other hand, Vessyl is not yet able to recognize a mixture (cocktail lovers will have to wait!).

On the design side, we are necessarily pleasantly surprised by the creativity of Fuseproject who worked on a very sleek, gray design – a mini-thermos. This obviously also reminds of the H2O Pal smart health connected bottle, the objective of which is to monitoring daily fluid consumption.
To retrieve all the information, you will need to connect Vessyl with a smartphone application on iOS or Android, via Bluetooth 4.0. A small screen is also available on the side of the container to display the information. Unfortunately, the cup that stores about 35cl of liquid does not go into the dishwasher, it is nonetheless a design object … Mark One has decided to launch a first phase of pre-order for $ 99 for delivery in early 2015.
